Saudi may allow Israel to strike Iran

'Saudis to allow airspace for Iran war'

Saudi Arabia has reportedly launched a series of military maneuvers aimed at allowing Israeli jets to use the kingdom's airspace for an aerial attack on Iranian nuclear sites.

US defense sources speaking on condition of anonymity told The Times on Sunday that Israel has been given overflight clearance by Saudi Arabia and is permitted to use northern Saudi airspace in the event of military confrontation with Iran.

To clear the way for Israeli bombers en route to Iran, Riyadh has reportedly been conducting tests to practice keeping its own jets out of harms way while ensuring that missile systems in the kingdom remain completely deactivated.

"The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way," one US defense source said on Saturday.

"They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren't scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [US] State Department," he added.

Meanwhile, Arab sources reported that Saudi defense officials had made arrangements with Israel in case it decided to carry out its long-stalled military plans against Iran, stating that they both share a mutual hatred for the Iranian government and its nuclear activities.

For years, Israel has threatened to bomb Iran's nuclear installations. However, the likelihood of any such attack has significantly increased due to Tel Aviv's growing impatience with international sanctions, which have failed to change Tehran's stance on its peaceful nuclear issue.

Dodging scrutiny over its own arsenal of up to 200 nuclear weapons, Israel accuses Iran of refining uranium for military purposes.

Iran, however, dismisses the allegation, saying its nuclear activities are solely aimed at peaceful energy production and under close supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency

Saudi Arabia has carried out tests to stand down its air defences to allow Israeli fighters to make bombing runs on Iran's nuclear sites.

"The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way," the Times reported quoting US sources in the Middle-East.

"They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren't scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has been done with the agreement of the (US) state department," the paper said.

Quoting defence sources in the Gulf, Times said, in the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, Riyadh agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow air corridor in the North to reach Iran.

The tests to stand down air defences, sources said, was to ensure that Israeli bombers pass unmolested, and for this Riyadh carried out exercises to make certain that its own jets were not scrambled and missile defence system not activated.

Quoting sources in Saudi Arabia, Times said that it was common knowledge within defence circles in the Kingdom that an arrangement is in place if Israel decides to go ahead to obliterate the Iranian nuclear facilities.

Times said that despite the tension between the two governments, they share a mutual loathing of the regime in Tehran and a common fear of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

The defence sources said the four main targets for the Israelis would be uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz and Qom, the gas storage development at Isfahan and the heavy water reactor at Arak.

Secondary targets for the Israeli jets could be the light water reactor at Bushehr, which could produce weapons grade plutonium, when completed.

The Iranian nuclear targets, defence sources said lie almost 2,250 km from Israel and could be out of reach of its bombers even with aerial refuelling. But an open air corridor across northern Saudi Arabia would significantly shorten the distance.

Times, quoting defence sources in the Gulf, said the Israeli air force would have to carry out the attacks in multiple waves of bombers, crossing Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

Israel, which regards Iran as its principal threat has refused to rule out using military option to prevent Tehran developing nuclear weapons.

In 2007, Israel was reported to have used Turkish air space to attack a suspected nuclear reactor being built by Iran's main regional ally, Syria.

This won't be the first time that Israeli fighters have overflown Saudi air space to strike. On June 7, 1981, Israeli air force F-16 fighting falcons flew over the kingdom to strike and destroy the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak.

:salam2: Brother,

Seems to be (yet another) diversion act by Israeli propaganda machine. Saudis have denied it.

BTW: You might be interested in couple of books by Victor Ostrovsky, a former MOSSAD agent, exposing the MOSSAD and Israelis.

"By the Way of Deception" and "Other side of decption".

Israeli government even made an unsuccessful attempt to stop the publication of the book by filing a law suit in US supreme court.

Free E-books are also there on internet, just try googling them...

while i don't want Iran to acquire such weapons because they would be used against Sunnis rather then "Israel" which Iran had close ties with during the Iraqi - Iranian war ( Israel was the weapon supplier of Iran )

saying the Saudi Arabia allowed Israel to used its airspace to strike the iraqie nuclear site is simply unbelievable the Saudi Arabian government funded that project and supported Iraq financially during its wars

If this is really true and If the time does come and the saudis allows israel to pass through its airspace, then the king should consider taking "There is no God But God and Mohammed is His Prophet " off of their flag and replace it with the star of David.

But im sure saudi citizens are against this this. To bad they cant voice their frustration bec if they do they can get hung, beheaded or who knows what else.

The true Muslim country might be the most unlikely country in the world but I know that Saudia Arabia definitely not a true muslim country.

Riyadh, Kuwait deny allowing Israeli planes to use airspace
Admin - Sep 28, 09
Dubai September 28, 2009 (Gulfnews.com) - Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have made swift and clear denials over press reports that Israeli warplanes would be allowed to fly in their airspace during an attack on Iran.

An informed Saudi official branded the reports "stupid", and a "pathetic way (from Israel) to gain some recognition from some Arab countries or Muslim countries" through giving the impression that it has communications with the Kingdom.

However, these Arab and Muslim countries "didn't buy it", the official said.

"Of course, Saudi Arabia would never open its air space and land to a friendly country to launch an illegal attack on another country, let alone to open its space for a country that doesn't have any relationship with Saudi Arabia," the official explained to Gulf News.[/B]

The Saudi official was commenting on press reports claiming the Israeli intelligence service had assured Premier Benjamin Netanyahu that Riyadh would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during ay future raid on Iran.

Israel has also denied these reports.

Moreover, Kuwait parliament speaker Jaseem Al Khorafi said his country would never allow Israeli planes to use its airspace.

"I am surprised at such a question that comes as if it were an accomplished fact," Khorafi was quoted as saying by Kuwait official news agency (KUNA). "Has the Israeli press become a source from which we may get information?" he added.

Biden, in what was described as a giving Israel a green light to eliminate the Iranian's "nuclear threat" by military force, said in an interview with ABC television on Sunday that the US "cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do."

However, US military commanders gave different positions.

Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, warned that any strike against Iran would be "unintended consequences" and would be "very destabilising".

Meanwhile, press reports noted that Israel, in a major shift of policy, sent one of its three Dolphin-class submarines through the Suez Canal to the Red Sea.

Israeli defence officials described the naval drill as a show of strategic reach in the face of Iran.

Iran's nuclear program, which Tehran insists is of a civilian nature, has raised concern in Israel, which is believed to have a huge undeclared nuclear arsenal.

Biden's statement unleashed a series of positions and statements either in support of such an attack or against it.

Biden's statement, who has called for improving relations with Iran, can be put within the "frame that the US wants to affirm to the Iranian leadership that a surprising Israeli military attack by Israel is not in the hands of the US alone," Iranian eminent analyst Mashallah Shams Al Waezeen, said.

"It is also an Israeli decision", he added in an interview with Gulf News.

Furthermore, the position expressed by Biden aims at "pressuring Iran to accept entering negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 countries," Waezeen added in reference to the five major European countries along with the US that are negotiating with Iran over its nuclear programme.

Baarak Allaahu feek...

Let's be real. Generally speaking, the kuffaar are liars, Israel are super liars (that's the least that can be said), politicians are liars, press agencies are liars and of course, the shi`a (i.e. Iran) are liars (taqiyyah)!!! Having said that, I much rather trust the statement of a Saudi/Kuwaiti official than any of the aforementioned...

^ Assalam alaikum brother Al-Kashmiri,

Your google search gave you an article from September 2009. These are articles from June 5th 2009:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article6638568.ece

The head of Mossad, Israel’s overseas intelligence service, has assured Benjamin Netanyahu, its prime minister, that Saudi Arabia would turn a blind eye to Israeli jets flying over the kingdom during any future raid on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Earlier this year Meir Dagan, Mossad’s director since 2002, held secret talks with Saudi officials to discuss the possibility.
The Israeli press has already carried unconfirmed reports that high-ranking officials, including Ehud Olmert, the former prime minister, held meetings with Saudi colleagues. The reports were denied by Saudi officials.
“The Saudis have tacitly agreed to the Israeli air force flying through their airspace on a mission which is supposed to be in the common interests of both Israel and Saudi Arabia,” a diplomatic source said last week.
Although the countries have no formal diplomatic relations, an Israeli defence source confirmed that Mossad maintained “working relations” with the Saudis.
John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations who recently visited the Gulf, said it was “entirely logical” for the Israelis to use Saudi airspace.
Bolton, who has talked to several Arab leaders, added: “None of them would say anything about it publicly but they would certainly acquiesce in an overflight if the Israelis didn’t trumpet it as a big success.”
Arab states would condemn a raid when they spoke at the UN but would be privately relieved to see the threat of an Iranian bomb removed, he said.
Referring to the Israeli attack on an alleged Syrian nuclear facility in 2007, Bolton added: “To this day, the Israelis haven’t admitted the specifics but there’s one less nuclear facility in Syria . . .”
Recent developments have underscored concerns among moderate Sunni Arab states about the stability of the repressive Shi’ite regime in Tehran and have increased fears that it may emerge as a belligerent nuclear power.
“The Saudis are very concerned about an Iranian nuclear bomb, even more than the Israelis,” said a former head of research in Israeli intelligence.
The Israeli air force has been training for a possible attack on Iran’s nuclear site at Natanz in the centre of the country and other locations for four years.

And:
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/Interna...can-cross-Saudi-air-space/UPI-78771276378954/
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, June 12 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia has given the go-ahead to Israel to send bombers through a strip of its air space to bomb nuclear facilities in Iran, defense sources say.

Tests have even been held to guarantee Saudi air defenses would not be activated against Israeli bombers, The Times in London reported Saturday.
"The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way," a U.S. defense source in the Middle East told the Times. "They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren't scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the (U.S.) State Department."

Allowing the bombers to cross northern Saudi Arabia could make the difference between success and failure, providing a shorter route, the report said.

Saudi Arabia and Israel do not have diplomatic relations. But both governments dislike and distrust the current regime in Iran, the report said.

Things may change significantly over the course of 8-9 months. I actually was reading this thread title the first time with a Saudi friend of mine doing his phd (Hisham, mentioned him in another thread). He was saddened and he also said that "giving airspace to attach Iran is not a good idea" but that "letting the US and Israel use their airspace in 1991 to attack Iraq worked in there favour".

The first Palestinian Intifada started in 1987 and it was supported by the entire Arab world and Muslim community in general. The PLO however supported the Iraqi regime, and after Saddam invaded Kuwait in 1991, the PLO were one of the few groups that still supported Iraq, specially after they fired bombs into Israel. Saudi at that time did not like Iraq and was backing Kuwait. Hence, after the war, the Arab countries that supported Kuwait, stopped sending finances and aid to the PLO (except for Syria, Lebanon (Hezbollah) and Iran). This was explained to me by Hisham, and then I confirmed it yesterday to make sure the dates were accurate.

It can make perfect sense. The USA sends $300,000 of aid to Gaza everyday, do you think they support the Palestinians?? If someone gave you just that number or fact, one might think that the USA does support Gaza.

But the USA also gives Israel about $150,000,000 a day, and allows Israel to continue with it's illegal blockade of Gaza.

subhan Allah! we simply dont know when will the nationalism among the gulf countries and its rulers come to an end.

i simply invite all the rulers and the nationalistic muslims (or patriotic muslims) living in the muslim countries to come and live as a "Minority muslim" for just ONE day to realize that this false patriotism is nothing but a trick of khafirs and mushrikeen.

what hurts me more is 'there could be a mossad viewing this thread with a big grin knowing that his trick has worked out'!! :(

More information that says this is true (news clip from MSNBC). They've said no to Israel for 6 years, but now it is a yes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw9nFSd2u8M&feature=player_embedded

EDIT: Just to put in opinion. I sincerely hope that this is not true. Saudi Arabia and all these other countries in the Middle East should not aid Israel in any way, shape or form. The "enemy of my enemy is my friend", and Israel should be the primary enemy, before the Shias of Iran.

And I hope the Egyptians lift the blockade against Gaza too.

Kingdom denies airspace reports
By ARAB NEWS

Published: Jun 13, 2010 00:03 Updated: Jun 13, 2010 00:03

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia denied Saturday foreign media reports suggesting that it has permitted Israel to use its airspace to launch attacks against Iran.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "Saudi Arabia has noticed some false claims in some British media that it has permitted Israel to launch attacks on Iran using its airspace."

The source added that the Kingdom has reiterated its clear stance that it will never allow anyone to use its airspace or territory to attack any other country.

The source also said it is appropriate that the Kingdom should apply this principle on Israel with which it has no relations.

Saudi Arabia has denied a British report claiming Riyadh had agreed to allow Israel to use its airspace to attack Iran.

Saudi Arabia "rejects violating its sovereignty or the use of its airspace or territories by anyone to attack any country," the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted a Foreign Ministry official as saying on Saturday. But it declined to name the official.

http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=130164&sectionid=351020205
The source called the allegations "false" and "slanderous" and stated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterates its position of firm opposition to and rejection of the violation of its sovereignty and the use of its airspace or territory by anyone to attack any country.

It is more appropriate that Saudi Arabia should apply this policy to the authority of the Israeli occupation regime, with which it has no relationship in any way, SPA quoted him as saying.
