It's neither. It's like "th" in "this" and "that" (Arabic letter ذ). I usually represent this letter as "zh" because "th" represents the sound in "think" (Arabic letter ث). I also use "dh" for the backward d, which sounds a bit like in "dub", which represents the Arabic letter ض which you find in Ramadhaan.

I know how it is pronounced. But we can't spell it "athan" because its not a TH sound. However I got raked over hot coals by an Arabic speaking brother at my masjid for saying "zabihah" instead of "thabihah" (however you want to spell it) but it seems to me I'm not the only one mispronouncing it.

i didnt know this and never heard of it. and i never imagined the impact of the athan and the beauty it can cause a flower to become.

mashallah, this is incredible, no word to describe it. i love it heaps.

jazakuallah kheir. i wish to learn more about what else the athan does.

at one stage i was required to listen to the athan i think it was 7 times, a day. it made me faint. subhan allah its so strong and beautiful and a great cure like the quran.
