Trying to decide....your views needed!

I know a baptist pastor and he is a really nice man, I have been chatting with him about christianity.......I said to him " Why should I worship Jesus, when in Islam you are taught to worship the one and only true God...? " He responded....." First, to answer your comment about Islam, it is a false religion (See John 14:6 above); every religion that does not worship the true God is false; this is what Jehovah God says in His word. Jesus was a prophet but much, much more than that. He was and is the very Son of God, God in the flesh. This is what the Bible teaches; this is what Christ Himself claimed. (John 14:7-10) "

I do believe that I would be able to embrace islam more than I could ever embrace christianity....I just believe Islam has a clearer message than christianity has ever had or could care to offer. But still I am searching.....anyone care to comment and leave your views thanks :)

Remember, the Quran doesn't demand, it invites you to the truth. Decide for yourself it says and we shall see who is right in the end.

"Nay, We [Allah] hurl the Truth against falsehood, and it knocks out its brain, and behold, falsehood doth perish! Ah! woe be? to you for the [false] things ye ascribe [to us]" [Quran 21:18]

Asalaaam walaikum,

What are you searching? In your search it seems one thing to remember is Islam does not concentrate on celebrating the Messenger. We concentrate on the Message.
More than any faith Islam believes in forgiveness. Islam is not going to compare itself to any other faith. It is not comparative. That is when mistakes are made.

As the brother responded Islam invites.

Just list your questions and see what answers are provided for you. ( By the way..everyone here will go out of their way to give you excellent answers. )

hmm there are a lot of things that can be said about your conversation with the pastor.

He gave some text and then a reference (John 14:6) and then (John 14:7-10)

Who is John?
What is his father's name? family lineage, number of children?
What did he do for a living? Was he famous amongst the people? How many books from his ear mention his name?
Did John meet Jesus (as)? When?
John definitely didnt speak English so where are his original words?
Was John a truthful man? Can he be trusted?
Is there anyway to prove that John even existed? Where is his grave, home, possessions, anything (apart from the bible) to prove that Jon walked on the earth!

This information is very important because if im going to believe in a text, before anything else, i want to know its source. Where does it come from? If the source is trustworthy, only then will i analyze the message itself for accuracy of the claims made in it.

If an unknown email/letter advises you to buy IBM stock and then Warren Buffet tells you to not buy the IBM stock. Who would you believe? who would you put your faith into? Did you look at the message or the source?

Islam is at the core a faith - a faith that is based on proof. The texts are rigorously analyzed, sources verified. We have the actual revelation untouched as it was revealed to the Muhammad (pbuh). Then we have his sunnah (best practices and other commands) which was noted by his companions. You can read volumes of biographies of famous companions and scholars written by their students from that era. you can locate their graves (for some you cant) and their possessions too. This is apart from the books they wrote and their family lineages which are also worked out. Oh and all this information is available in Arabic which is the language of all Islamic texts.

i mean just from the point of view of the authenticity and sources of the texts, Christianity has lots of question marks. On the other hand, Islam has all its texts preserved alongside the proper sources, citations.

Didn't you just see a contradiction right there? Jesus is Son of God, God in flesh? Did Jesus (alayhis salaam) really claim so? He was a pious prophet, nothing more. It wasn't until three hundred years after his departure that it was decided that Jesus is God.

It depends on how you view God. Is God dependent on His creation? Can God be killed by his enemies?

Islam is a way of life
So he's using a corrupted book (the Bible) and saying that any religion which doesnt worship the true creator is false? Well I will agree with the latter statement. The funny thing is, Islam has the SAME true creator as Christianity (the god of Abraham/Ibrahim) We just have a different take on Jesus. Jesus is a prophet, not son of God.

We believe the Bible was corrupted, and thus Allah subhana wa ta ala sent revelations to Muhammad sallalau alayhi wa selam to straighten the world out.

I believe you....the thing is this pastor has a habit of being rude to people who dont agree with his beliefs....I dont speak to him anymore because of his attitude.....he was rude a catholic friend of mine too. I believe in islam, I believe islam is calling me and that Mohammed (peace be upon him) was the messanger of Allah. Thanks for helping me all of you :)
