:salam2:

nafl salah are the sunnah prayers that aren't obligatory, but are recommended because of the reward of doing them.

fard salah is the obligatory 5 times prayers that we muslims must perform on a daily basis.

witr, is a special prayer that is performed after salatul ishaa. as far as i know, it should be done before going to bed. there is debate as to how many rakats are in the witr salah. it should be an odd number of rakah. most people usually do three rakah. but again there is debate on the amounts of rakah. we know that they should be odd numbered because witr means " odd "

tahajjud salah, from what i've learned is making salah after waking up from sleep in the middle of the night, yet before the time for fajr. it's definitely a challenge to do. yet as i have been told by my teachers, that there is much reward in the performance of that prayer.

assalam alaykom,
hope this helps:

before all, a muslim must recite surah "al fatiha" at the beginning of every salah.. if the muslim didnt recite "al fatiha" the salah is not right.

then he/she can recite whtever he/she wants from the quraan after surah "al fatiha" like surah "al nas" or surah "al masad" or can even recite surah "al nas" and al masad" at the same rakaa...
u can recite ayat from surah " al baqara" but it's not obligatory to finish the whole surah at the same rakaa..

i mean u can recite in one rakaa:
*a whole surah
*or more than one surah
*or u can recite parts "ayat" of a surah

Al nafela is; sunnah; every prayer that is not obligatory.

Al Sunnan Al Rawatib (Sunnah Prayers associated with Fardh Prayers):

Anbasah ibn Abi Sufyan quoted Umm Habibah as saying "Allaah’s Messenger (May peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"A house will be built in Heaven for one who prays 12 Rak'aat in a day and evening as follows: 4 Rak'aat before and 2 after the Dhuhr Prayer, 2 after the Maghrib Prayer, 2 after the ‘Ishaa’ Prayer and 2 before the Fajr Prayer." Narrated by at-Tirmizi under No. 380. He said: The Hadith narrated by ‘Anbasah quoting Umm Habibah in this chapter is a hassan and sahih hadith. It is under No. 6362 in Sahih al-Jaami’.

The ‘Asr (Late-Afternoon) Prayer has no routine Sunnah (basic recommended voluntary prayer). However, it is mustahab (preferable and recommended) that one prays 4 Rak'aat before the ‘Asr Prayer. The 4 Rak'ahs are of less reward and significance in importance of adhering to them compared to the "sunnan al-rawaatib" described above. The 4 Rak'ahs are the ones intended by the Prophet (May peace and blessings be upon him) in saying: "May Allaah have mercy on one who prays 4 raka’aat before the ‘Asr Prayer." Narrated by at-Tirmidhi no. 395 and he declared it a hassan and ghareeb Hadith. Al-Albany rated the Hadith as hassan in Sahih al-Jami’ No. 3493.
All the foregoing 4-Rak'ah voluntary prayers are to be prayed two at a time according to Imam ash-Shafi’i and Imam Ahmad.

Night prayer “tahajjud” and “witr”:

In sahih al bukhari:
Narrated Nafi': Ibn 'Umar said, "While the Prophet was on the pulpit, a man asked him how to offer the night prayers. He replied, 'Pray two Rakat at a time and then two and then two and so on, and if you are afraid of the dawn (the approach of the time of the Fajr prayer) pray one Rak'a and that will be the witr for all the Rakat which you have offered." Ibn 'Umar said, "The last Rakat of the night prayer should be odd for the Prophet ordered it to be so. (Book #8, Hadith #461)

in sahih al bukhari:
Narrated Abu Jamra: I asked Aidh bin Amr, who was one of the companions of the Prophet one of those (who gave the allegiance to the Prophet the Tree: "Can the witr prayer be repeated (in one night)?" He said, "If you have offered it in the first part of the night, you should not repeat it in the last part 'of the night." (See Fateh-al-Bari page 458 Vol 8th). (Book #59, Hadith #493)

in sahih al bukhari:
Narrated Masruq: I asked 'Aisha "What deed was the most beloved to the Prophet?" She said, "The regular constant one." I said, "At what time did he use to get up at night (for the Tahajjud night prayer)?' She said, "He used to get up on hearing (the crowing of) the cock (the last third of the night)." (Book #76, Hadith #468)

In 3 rakaat witr; mostahab to recite:
in the first “surah al aa’la”
In the 2nd rakaa : surah “al kaferoon”
In the 3rd rakaa: surah “al ikhlas”

the night prayer and the witr could be prayed after salah al ishaa till "adan al fajr". {{ after ishaa---- before fajer}}

If the Muslim prays Witr then he wants to pray qiyaam al-layl after that, he should pray them two by two, and he does not have to repeat Witr.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) commanded that the last prayer offered at night should be Witr, but this command is in the sense that is it mustahabb, not obligatory

there are also many nafila salahs like :
" al istesqaa": rain prayer; During times of droughts.
"al istekhara":asking Allah to choose the right for the muslim in a specific situation.
"al doha: "afternoon prayer"
"Kusuuf Prayer" :Eclipse Prayer; This Prayer is congregational and perfomed only when an eclipse has happened.
and many more...

Allah knows best...
may Allah lead u to the right and may Allah bless you...

wassalam

Fard is only the obligatory (2rakaa fajr + 4 zuhr + 4 asr + 3 magrib + 4 ishaa)
All other prayers are Nafl.
Now the Nafl prayers can be given the name of Sunna when it is "mentioned in particular" by the prophet may the peace of Allah be upon him; as for examples the 4rakaa before Frad of zuhur or the 2 rakaa before Fard Fajr "sunnat of alfajr" or the 2 rakaa after fard magrib "sunnat magrib".
These prayers are Nafl but we call it "sunnat of zuhr" , "sunnat of Fajr" , or some other prayers mentioned in the previous answer as " al istesqaa": rain prayer; During times of droughts.
"al istekhara":asking Allah to choose the right for the muslim in a specific situation.
"Kusuuf Prayer" :Eclipse Prayer; This Prayer is congregational and perfomed only when an eclipse has happened.
So sunna is the Nafl which mean not obligatory, but this voluntay prayer "Nafl" is mentioned in particular by the prophet may the peace of Allah be upon him so we call this nafl as "sunna". If someone want to pray more , or in other times we call it Nafl and we then dont use the word "sunna" but we say nafl or general nafl . general nafl mean any voluntary pray which is not related to a time or a situation that mentioned in particular. For example After Fard of Zuhr someone may pray more than 2 or 4 rakaa , 14 rakaa for example , these prayer are Nafl , we call it only Nafl. When we speak about a voluntary pray which is mentioned in particualr as the 2 rakka after Zuhr we call it Sunna which is also nafl. Nafl mean something additional and voluntary or complementary.

Duha : is a pray before-noon (from 2 - 12 rakaa, every 2 rakaa are separated ofcourse). it is before-noon "not the Afternoon" .
The time for Doha pray is generally any time after sunrise untill noon which is the time of zuhr. Accurately, the time of Duha start from about (7 or 8 -20 miutes after sunrise) untill about (10-20 minutes before Zuhr time ).
The few minutes after sunrise and few minutes before Zuhr is the time when the pray is generally not allowed.

Witr is a word to mention the odd pray after the 2 or more rakaa after ishaa and before Fajr. any time after isha and before Fajr is the time for this odd pray which generally performed after the 4rakaa Fard Isha and then 2 rakaa voluntary "sunna of after ishaa" and then the Witr . The witr should be generally 3rakaa. It can be less as 1 or more than 3 also , but in general speaking it is 3 rakaa.
All these are voluntary . Fard is only obligatory but the prophet used to do daily and always some of these prayers particularly which is before and after some of fard as (2 befor fard fajr- 2 after magrib, 2 after isha ..etc.) .

Tahajud is word can be used for any prayer performed at night afeter the one sleep and then wake up at night to pray partucularly at the last third of nught before fajr.
Qiam al-lail is any pray at night including tahajud but generally it used for prayers at night after ishaa but before sleeping.
There is nothing can be called "the midnight prayer " but may be you mean the night prayer which is the same of Qiam Al-lail. The arabic word "Lail" mean night.
All these prayers are same , if some one said no difference between them he is true to great extent.

What to read in these prayers : as same as any prayer and all are the same, very similar to Fard. every rakaa u read "Surat Al-Fatiha" and some of Quraan which may be very short or very long as u like, If some one don't know anything other than Al-Fatiha so he can read it alone, it is enough for people who do not know more.

There are some very small difference (which can be neglected if someoe don't know it)about some particular prayers which is not rotinely and daily performed as " al istesqaa": rain prayer; During times of droughts, for example.

At the end "al istekhara pray ": is a voluntary pray for asking Allah to choose the right for the muslim in a specific situationis. It is as same as any 2 rakaa, read in the first rakaa surat al-Fatiha and Surat al-Ikhlas, the second rakaa read surat Al-Fatiha and surat al-kafiroon, After u finished the 2 rakaa, you pray "make duaa" asking Allah to choose the best for you among 2 things for example which you are worry what of them to choose for yourself, and asking allah to take away from you the thing which is bad for you. You do that whenever you should take a decision and you are worry waht is better to choose so you pray asking to help you choosing.
