Hep A inoculation

My husband and I have to get a Hep A inoculation before we leave the country, we're getting the first session of shots tomorrow, but the second session we're supposed to get on Sept 15, which will be during Ramadan. I'm going to ask the doc tomorrow if it's possible to get the second set a few days earlier. But if worse comes to worse and thats not possible what should I do if we have to get the second shot during Ramadan?

P.S. please do not post any hadiths about taking medications at night instead because this has to be administered by a doctor and they don't work that late

I was always told and read that you could receive injections during Ramadan as long as they didn't have nutritional value. Don't know if that's right, but it's something to look into.

My parents said that some scholars discussed it live on TV, and suggested that it was ok to take medication, even pills, if needed, during the fast and it would not be invalidated (this was when they were living in Iran). but I am not sure if they were sunni or shia, and someone might just complain about this verdict just because its from Iran

Asslamo Allaikum Respected Sister in Islam,

According to pretty-much unanimous verdict of Hanafi Jurists...

3. Does the use of an injection break the fast?
A. The fast is not nullified. (Fatawa Raheemiya vol. 2 )

I have paraphrased the answer but I am sure that you can google and search for the whole answer.

In the Hanbali Madhab taking Injection due to necessity DOES NOT break the fast...

So you have no issues.

Thanks everyone :). Well I went to get the shot today and the doctor said we could get the second session done before Ramadan starts, so alhamdullilah it all worked out.
