as most of you know, the A levels is probably the most important exam one can take. i intend to go to a good university, maybe even the ivy league. however, it all depends on my A levels which is about a month from now.
the reality is that i probably have to study every waking second i can until the A levels. and fasting really zaps my energy.i really really cant concentrate to an extent where i feel really uneasy..
is it ok if i didnt fast and "pay back" the fasting after A levels?
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
Assalaamu `Alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
I hope you are in the best of health and iman InshaAllah.
Firstly Ramadan Mubarak.
I agree with A-levels being the hardest exam you can take as it is advanced level, once you pass your A-levels, Uni should be easy for you.
Secondly, why do we fast? It's one of the five pillars of Islam, that's how important it is, and it's obligatory. One cannot just leave their fast and 'pay it back' when they want to. We fast so one can:
- Draw closer to Allah Most High.
- So we can express our slavehood To Allah Most High.
- So we can be better men and better women, better human beings, better slaves of Allah.
Remember this Ayah:
Allah Ta’ala revealed. “O you who have attained to faith! Fasting is ordained for you as it was ordained for those before you, so that you might remain conscious of God” (2:183)
We don't know if we are gonna see tomorrow- so make the most of it! What better month to ask Allah for help and forgiveness than the month of Ramadan?
Look at me for example, today i have my deadline to give in my final assignment for my Islamic courses (I'm learning Fiqh and it's not easy), and instead i'm here giving you advice. Everyone has to take out time for worship etc.
Finally, a little advice from me; Perhaps if you kept in mind that you might not have the chance to make up that prayer or fast, i.e. you die suddenly, and you would meet Allah with that debt and embarrassment of not fulfilling your obligation to Allah, you would know how much Allah loved you and how little you did in turn to be an obedient slave.
And Allah alone gives success.
Forgive me any mistakes i may have made.
Take care and Wasalaam.
