Happiness!!!!!!

No God but Allah
Seeking happiness is an ultimate goal for every human beings. We all seek for happiness. We all need to feel happy to be able to proceed in this life. The question is:

Can you define what "happiness" is???

Is it when you manage to fulfill all your dreams or even some of them? Is it when you have good education, notable job, comfortable house, satisfying money, loving spouse and beautiful children. Who doesn't dream of all these adornment?!! I think we all do and we all seek for happiness. We all live to achieve happiness. Even when we do righteous deeds, we do them to achieve everlasting happiness.

What if, for any reason, we can not achieve any of our goals. What if we failed to fulfill some of our dreams or any of them. What if Allah (swt.) chose something else?? How can we live without that essential feeling that we need to go on? When this happens, it is the time then to develop another very wide conception of happiness.

It won't be so difficult to redefine the meaning of happiness. We can taste it in the hearts of others. We can taste it when we can draw a sweet smile on some miserable faces. We can taste it in the joy we can grant to deprived and yearning hearts. We can taste it when we can remove grief and sorrow from over burdened shoulders. That taste of pure happiness is incomprable to any other taste of personal happiness.

And its as simple and beautiful as that... :)

Jazaki Allahu Khayran sister. Honestly, I dont know how to define happiness. Sometimes I wonder if there are different types of happiness.

1) For example, A good muslim might feel very happy for having a great job, degree, good wife, children because he/she knows that its Allah's gift and without Allah' bleesing upon them, they wouldn't have all these blessings in the first place. (Therefore, their happiness linked to materials from this world and without forgetting the Provider Allah (swt) ). Allah (swt) told us if we thank Him, He (swt) will increase his rizq. (True Happiness)..

2)On the contrary, a non muslim or non practicing muslim, might feel happy for living a great job, good wife, children, expensive cars, etc.. Thinking his/her hard work really paid off. They totally forgot who provided them, forgot Allah (swt) blessings. Therefore, their happiness linked to this World ONLY without thanking or praying to Allah (swt) for His blessing upon them.. (Cheap happiness)..

3) Poor people (Rightous 'Mumiiniin) are one of the happiest people in this world. Knowing that if the whole world come together, they wouldn't be able to provide them with s single meal, unless by the order of the Al-Razaq (swt). (High level of ''true happiness'')

4) A poor/rich individual who faces a major health problem. He/she spent years in supplication to Allah (swt) to heal him/her. And finally after many years, the order of Allah (swt) arrived, where he/she feels the joy knowing that Allah (swt) responded to their supplications. ('Patience & trust in Allah' is the the highest level of Happiness.. In my humble opinion)..

A non-muslim might feel happiness for having children too, similar to a muslim. But, a muslim joy is far greater knowing his/her life, death, blessings, rizq (good wife, children, good job etc) are from Allah (swt) and no one esle... Happiness must be linked with Allah (swt) otherwise, its cheap happiness that will last for a limited time...

Do you agree that their are different levels of Happiness (provided by the Creator Allah swt), as the main happiness for a muslim is in Jannah, but we still feel some happiness in this life)

Honestly, I dont know how to define happiness...

I think for sure hapinness is not money job and career .
Hapinness is When u have a piece of mind ,peace inside u,when u are strong in your faith and can overcome problems easily ...when u can enjoy every day and evey moment like its your last one .When u dont think about tomorrow and all what has to be done ....
Hapinness is in the peple around you ,your family ,your loved ones...
From what I learned in my life is the most thing that makes me unhappy is lonelinness....
Every human being needs love and affection ....material things is not the sourse of hapinnes.... its simply nothing .Career ,money and sucsess sometimes just a burden ...

Salaam,

It is simply gratitude. I could go on forever but believing that I have sisters that I love and who love me just because we choose to love each other is happiness.

Well I am actually on the search for my happiness and peace and insh'allah I will be making big move in my life, I am going back home which is just one state up from where I am now, I am in VA but home is MD. Happiness that I am looking for is peace within myself, I do more crying then I do smiling. it also easier for me to cry then to smile. Happiness is also knowing that Allah always has my back and despite how many ppl are trying to get me to stay where I am, I feel I never have that close connection like I want to with Allah until I can find peace and contentment within myself.

Peace

What a question my wise friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think happiness is the inner feelings of peace and tranuquility which can be attained with content of Allah's decree whatever it is,

The Prophet (SAW) said,''How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him".
[Muslim].

Relative happiness can exist for different people in different things and can be achieved by certain means.

Absolute happiness doesn't exist in this world because there is that constant fear of danger and death... which spoils it.

in an ideal world, happiness would be:

1- availability and accessability of everything one desires, without
compromise or sacrifice
2- the ability to enjoy all that is available, accessable and desired
3- no fear of losing the above
4- complete absence of fear, danger, ill health, tragedies and death

to me, that ideal world can only be HEAVEN.

hence, the fullest definition of happiness makes the existence
of heaven logical.

Therefore, searching for complete happiness in this world is naivety.
What we can do here is to work towards achieving it in hereafter (by the grace of Allah swt).

You are absolutely right, dear sister

This inner feeling of peace and serenity is a gift from Allah. This precious gift is not for free. It demands knowledge, work, and self- striving. It also needs us to find out the real meaning of happiness and to work hard to attain it.

What is happiness?

:salam2:

Good question, and my answer is:

Truly in the heart there is a sadness that can not be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah and being true to Him. And in it there is an emptiness that can not be filled except with love for Him and by turning to him and always remembering Him. And if a person were given all of the world and what is in it, it would not fill this emptiness.

ASA,

I agree with you bro.

There is some form of happiness in this world and we have to accept that, because this world has its blessings (i.e. food, water, trees, rain, shelter) which are created by Allah swt, but the ideal happiness is eternal life in heaven, which in turn is eternal happiness that will always be with us.

Happiness to me is achieving peace in the heart. I think though with each person the definition is different. To me happiness is going outside looking at my surroundings taking a deep breath and saying "Wow" at the beauty that surrounds me. I try to look at the positive things in this negative world. Indeed it is good to acknowledge the negatives but once you start chipping away the hard exterior of something not so good, the true beauty starts to unfold.

Happiness to me is one can evaluate oneself and feel comfortable in his or her own skin. :D

Okay that's for now.

I agree with you, brother. During our journey to eternal and complete happiness, we have to work. We won't reach without work and everything we do to achieve that ultimate goal can grant us a unique taste of happiness.

So working for complete happiness is some sort of happiness!!

la aisha illa aishal aakhirah,

I think happiness is a state of being. Its not an outward thing rather its and inner feeling. A person can be very happy and satisfied within but might look weary and sick outward.

I agree with brother Bawar that complete and real happiness is in the Heaven since its a place which will be the reward of obidience of Allah SWT.

And I agree with Sister Amany too, that it takes action and not just words to reach there. I love these two verses from surah An-Najm.

أَمۡ لِلۡإِنسَـٰنِ مَا تَمَنَّىٰ
(Or shall man have what he wishes?)

and

وَأَن لَّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنسَـٰنِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ
[And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad)]

As a muslim (non muslims may not agree on this) i think the ultimate happiness lies in the ultimate success.

Do you know what the ultimate success is:

"Allah has promised to the believing men and the believing women gardens,
beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and goodly dwellings in gardens of perpetual abode;
and best of all is Allah's goodly pleasure; that is the grand achievement." 9:72

May Allah swt grant us that grand achievement. Ameen

Very good quesion sis!..

I persoanl define my own happiness under the folloing:
1) Praying on time and doing good deed. Helping a muslim and see a smile on another muslim sisters or brothers even when i have a bad day. Starting something great so that later in future it would be easy for my muslim sisters and brothers to follow.
2) Knowing Allah has be back all the time during my ups and downs.
3)Aiming high for my goals even thoguh i know that everything hopes by Allah's (swt) and if i don't achieve them knowing it wasn't meant to happen.
4) Seeing my family happy as well as other muslims sisters and broters.
5) get good grades and fighting to for my dreams when i am surrend my people who don't believe i can achieve my goals in life.
6) Taking the challenages of life. Taking the challenages begin a muslim person in nonmuslim world.

Sorry for the list ....I can go on for ever but mainly i choose big and small things as my happiness in ecah day. At the end of the day what matters the most i am stil standing as a muslim and human begin. What you prepare for the hereafter but that doesn't mean you shouldn't live life and aim for the starts.

That is sooooo beautiful and soooo true. Ibn Al Qayyim's words reminded me of some verses I do like:

أحزان قلبى لا تزول

حتى أبشر بالقبول

و أرى كتابى باليمين

و تقر عينى بالرسول

I'll try to translate them.

The sadness of my heart will never be removed.
Till my acceptance will be proved.
Till I receive my book with my right.
Till I see the great prophet, that will be my delight.

True happiness cannot be achieved until we know Allah is happy upon us.
But as for happiness in this wolrd can only come through contentment in the heart.
The happiest person doesn't Necissarily have the best of everthing but make the most of everything that come along thier way. :hijabi:

The sadness of my hear will never be removed.
Till my acceptance will be proved.
Till I receive my book with my right.
Till I see the great prophet, that will be my delight.

Great qoute, did you mean sadness of the heart and not sadness of the hear? :SMILY231:
