Jazak'Allah????? What Does it Mean?

As-Salaam 3laikum Wa Ra7matullahi Wa Barakatu.

Many Muslims have now gotten the Habit of saying Jazak'Allah. But what does it Mean?

Jazak'Allah Means = " "May Allah Grant(or give) you"

It does not have any meaning to it, if it is said just like this.

You Have to Add something to It like for instance Jazak'Allahu Khair which Means "May Allah grant you with Good" This has a Meaning or:

Jazak'Allah Firdoos which Means "May Allah Grant you a High Station in Heaven"

If you only say Jazak'Allah it doesn't have any meaning to it.

Also you can not Say Jazak'Allahu Khair Insha'Allah. It is wrong, because when you say Jazak'Allahu Khair you are saying a Du'a and it is forbidden to say Insha'Allah after the Dua. or When you Say Ameen.

Niether can you say Ameen Insha'Allah .

or Jazak'Allahu Khair Insha'Allah.

Both are wrong.

you'll be suprised what I see from muslims. Sometimes, it is Jazak'Allah and this is even in the Masjid, other times it is only Jazak, or Jazaks, next they are going to change it to "Jaak" or Just "Jack"

Baarak Allaahu feeka akhi. I don't know why some of us didn't mention this sooner! Just to add to your post, as you said, you shouldn't couple inshaa' Allaah with a du`aa, like "Jazaak Allaah khayr inshaa' Allaah" or "Allaah yashfeeka inshaa' Allaah", it just doesn't add up. It is like you negate the du`aa by saying if Allaah wills, yet when we ask Allaah we weren't instructed to do so in this way.

Jazaak Allaahu khayran, this may be worth sticking!

Jazak Allahu Khair. I was also unaware that we should not add Insha Allah to this or to duaa. May Allah reward you for helping us better understand. Sometimes, when you are not a native arabic speaker like me, you pick up these habits, and we need extra guidance from native arabic speaking Muslims :)

Umm can someone please help me understand this Inshaa'Allaah?

I understood the first bit where Jazaakallaah is an incomplete thought.

Jazaakallaahu khayran = May Allaah reward you with good that's the meaning right? So why can't I say Aameen or Inshaa'Allaah (if Allaah wills)? Because after all it is a Du'a and we're not sure yet if it will be answered because only Allaah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows the future.

it is forbidden to say Insha'Allah after the Dua. or When you Say Ameen.
Can you provide proof for this akhi? (no sarcasm intended) I don't mean to test you or what but I also would like to gain knowledge because I didn't know this.

Jazaakallaahu khayr

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

People tend to use short sentences sometimes, in almost every language not just arabic.
even ancient arabs used to do that and i heard few scholars do it.
It is better to use a whole sentence, bot its no big deal, Unless its giving the wrong meaning of it. It all depends on how you look at it.

Allah rewards people for good Intentions and good deeds, and if these intentions or deeds were of bad nature or wrong then it is punishment.

When i say "Jazak Allah" then its like saying "may Allah give you according to your intention or deed". Because sometimes one can do something good for wrong intentions, or do something bad for good intentions.

And Allah knows best.

Jazakee Allahu khayran for asking, Sister!!

A Muslim should be firm in his du’aa’, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

“No one of you should say, ‘O Allaah, forgive me if You wish, O Allaah, have mercy on me if You wish’; he should be firm in his asking, for Allaah cannot be compelled.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6339; Muslim, 2679.

Assalaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

mashaAllah, a beneficial thread...im new here and i noticed how some of us brothers and sisters say 'inshaAllah' after a du'a.....i was meaning to post the above hadith but alhamdulillaah, it has been posted :)

so now that we know, none of us should say 'inshaAllah' after 'jazaakAllaahu Khayr' because it is incorrect...

but from the little knowledge i have, to say "aameen" after our supplications is the way of Rasoolullaah [salAllaahu 'alayhi wasalam]...so why would it be incorrect to say "Aameen" after "jazaakAllaahu Khayr"??

Saying ameen is fine, it doesn't carry the same meaning as inshaa' Allaah.
