As a revert I know how important it is to learn it the 1st chapter of the Quran, Al-Fatihah, it’s used in prayer and in day to day life. But also as a revert I am finding it very hard and frustrating to learn it. I can pronounce some of the words. it’s ok till I get down to the very last lines I think I am saying it ok till the 5th line and it goes wrong. I have it audio playing and how its pounced but I just can’t wrap my tongue around it.

Can anyone help how has experienced this or just know of any help???

Many thanks

maybe if you recite it and memorize how to recite it will be easier. its usually easier reciting things to help make you memorize it.

Salam aliakum. I am a revert too. I understand the difficulty in learning arabic. Can you take a Arabic class online or at a college close by you? if there is one? The one i have trouble with is Al-Falaq. That is so hard for me. remembering. Inshallah, we get reward for our attempts and struggles. inshallah.

Masha Allah!

First off welcome to Islam. I understand your frustration. I too, have much difficulty in pronouncing a lot of the words. My husband speaks Arabic, and helps me, but sometimes, my tongue won't do the "thaths" or "ooacks" like they should, no matter how hard I try. It all takes practice. I know Allah knows my heart is saying the words, and all is ok. In sha allah some day I will get it all "down pat."
I can say lots of Arabic in my mind, and the fatihah, but when trying to speak it outloud, oh my. Allah knows......

Salaam Sister Yvette,

For me, I use www.quranexplorer.com to help me when it comes to reading suraahs. If I want to memorise a particular suraah, I will play it again and again. Try this out sister, insyaAllah it might be of help to you!

Asalamualaikum

Sister I think the best thing you can do is just keep practicing over and over until you memorize it. Thats how I learned it. May Allah make it easy for you to learn the surah Fatiha. And please remember me in your duah.
