I know this topic was covered many times but I would like to look at it in a different way InshaAllah.

BismiAllah Ar-rahman Ar-raheem

This mostly for the hajabi sisters including me. Do we really know why we are wearing the Hijab? Do we have the right intention? or is it just a habit? few years ago My hijab was just a habit for me, it was something I wore because I grew up seeing people wearing it in my country, I grew up seeing my Mom, sisters, neighbors(females) wearing it. To me it was just a piece of cloth that I put on because others were wearing it too, in other words I was going with the crowd. When I moved to the US I met alot of people that were asking me about it, I always told them that I was wearing because Allah told me to wear because I did not want them to know that I was just going with the crowd & that is the answer that made more sense to me.I was not wearing the right Hijab, I was just covering up my hair & i was wearing tight clothes, makeup etc. I did not understand the concept of Hijab & other things about Islam though I was born Muslim & grew up as a Muslim. I learned the Quran but I have never been taught the meaning of the verses I was learning so, I was just reading the Quran without knowing the meaning of what I was reading. I also shared this story in another thread but I will share it again. After my arriaval in the US I became less involved in religion, prayed but without Khushuu3,I was not listening to my parents when they asked me something while I was in the net listening to music (AstaqfuruAllah) but MashaAllah I changed myself after I heard a very soothing Duaa from shaikh Sudais. After that incident, I became addicted to youtube & watching Islamic videos, that is one of the reasons I found this website AlhamduliAllah.I basically educated myself about Islam by using the internet. One of the things I learned more about was the meaning of the Quran & by doing so, I realized I came to love it so much. I loved listening to it & my ten hours of Music was now turned to ten hours of Quran AlhamduliAllah. One touching thing that I would love to share is one day as I was listening to the Quran my mom come to the room & she said AlhamduliAllah you have stopped listening to Music with all her heart, now when I think of that day I cry because I realize that my mom always wanted good things for me & I feel proud that I have someone like her. I know that I am not the only person that have been through this situations, please bothers & sisters lets learn about our religion, lets be active in educating ourselves because it will increase our faith inshaAllah. Fitnah is everywhere we cannot escape it until we get education on our beautiful deen. Now that I know why I wear the Hijab, I feel proud of it, I love wearing it & I am still in a progress of trying to become a good Muslim. Walahi, we are close to judgement day we want to be one of the people of Al-jannah, we want to be one of those people that will look at Allah with a glowing face but we cannot never be if we don't have education about Islam, about the simple things we do as Muslims. I wrote this because I want to remind myself & you that been a Muslim by name is not enough. We have act upon the teaching of Islam and we have to have the qualities of a true believer. DON'T GO WITH THE CROWD, KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING & EDUCATE YOURSELF BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. May Allah accept our good deeds & may He forgive our sins. Ameen

My question is what to do when some one doesn't even wear Hijab? Regardles of she being your mom, daughter, sister or friend. .:shymuslima1:

:salam2: dear sister in islam...

May ALLAH (swt) protect us when we need for protection. May He (swt) grant us when we need to be granted. May He (swt) bless and forgive us when we need to be blessed and forgiven. Ameen.

Before that, will He (swt) give us protection if we do not want it??? We are commanded to do several things inorder to be protected. Hijab, Proper keeping of Izaar, Tawheed, Jihad etc etc... If we throw them away, that means we do not want a real protection. Likewise if we throw away Salah, Quran, Zakah, Da'wah, Care to parents and family etc etc, that means we do not want real grantings, blessings and forgiveness. So let us all try our best to make our future bright.

This is a true and good reminder to all of us who say "Laailaaha Illallahu Muhammadurrasoolullah". JazakALLAH khair sister.

Salaam Sister,

Your story sounded just like mine.. I didn't know the significance of wearing hijaab (can you believe it, I only knew why we have to wear a hijaab after 8 years of wearing it?!), wore tight clothes, prayed without being khusyuk etc. Everytime someone asks me the purpose of wearing hijaab, I will try to explain something but it would be futile because they will be more confused than before.

I changed when I started seeing revert brothers and sisters practising their deen properly whilst I was still doing some haraam things and used to think I was good enough just because I wore the Hijaab.

Last night, a sister and I were on the train back home when she whispered to me that men still stare at us even though we wear hijaab. I think to me, the reason being would be that even our own muslim sisters dont respect ourselves when we wear hijaab and yet still do the haraam like holding hands with their boyfriends in public, tight clothings and such. And that is why it sends a wrong message to non-muslims that we are the same as everyone else when Muslim women should stand out from the rest based on her modest clothings and character.

I hope we all sisters can help other sisters out by advising. I know it is easier said than done but if we all do our part, no matter how small the effort is, insyaAllah we can help to change this.

I don't know the proper answer to this question, because I have the same problem..I really don't know what to do about that kind of situation but I think the best thing is to make dua for them so that Allah guides them to the right path.
