‘Sharia to be enforced in other areas after Swat’
I am a little late to inform that the sharia courts in swat valley have been established.
Seven qazis appointed in Swat
TNSM chief to examine verdicts given by qazis
The government on Thursday appointed seven qazis in Swat district, where the hearing of cases under Islamic laws will start from today (Friday).
Rasool Shah was appointed qazi in Barikot tehsil, Riaz Ali in Matta, Sajadur Rehman in Kabal, Ihsanur Rehman and Pirzada Noor Muhammad Shah in Mingora, Muhammad Rehman in Khawaza Khela and Umer Ali in Behrain tehsil.
Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi chief Sufi Muhammad, Malakand Commissioner Said Muhammad Javed and the district coordinator officer (DCO) were present at the ceremony for the appointment of qazis. “Today (Thursday) the long standing demand of the people of Swat has been fulfilled by the appointment of qazis to deliver judgements under Islamic law,” Sufi said.
He appealed to the Taliban and the people of Swat to remain peaceful and to cooperate with the Islamic courts, adding that the government was sincere in bringing peace to the area. Sufi also said after the appointment of ‘genuine’ qazis, there was no room left for regular judges and lawyers to run the judicial affairs in the area.
Verdicts: Sufi said he would examine the verdicts to be delivered by the qazis as he was a propagator of sharia, adding that women could not work as judges under sharia.

‘Sharia to be enforced in other areas after Swat’
The government would soon appoint qazis in other areas after their appointment in Swat completes, NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain said on Sunday.
He said the qazis’ appointments in other areas would fulfill the government’s promise of enforcing sharia in the region.
Iftikhar said he had directed officials of the Swat Education Board to refund examination fees collected from students in Swat. He said the reconstruction of destroyed schools in the district would start soon, meanwhile the students in Swat were being taught in makeshift schools. staff report
