I am a little late to inform that the sharia courts in swat valley have been established.

Seven qazis appointed in Swat

TNSM chief to examine verdicts given by qazis

The government on Thursday appointed seven qazis in Swat district, where the hearing of cases under Islamic laws will start from today (Friday).

Rasool Shah was appointed qazi in Barikot tehsil, Riaz Ali in Matta, Sajadur Rehman in Kabal, Ihsanur Rehman and Pirzada Noor Muhammad Shah in Mingora, Muhammad Rehman in Khawaza Khela and Umer Ali in Behrain tehsil.

Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi chief Sufi Muhammad, Malakand Commissioner Said Muhammad Javed and the district coordinator officer (DCO) were present at the ceremony for the appointment of qazis. “Today (Thursday) the long standing demand of the people of Swat has been fulfilled by the appointment of qazis to deliver judgements under Islamic law,” Sufi said.

He appealed to the Taliban and the people of Swat to remain peaceful and to cooperate with the Islamic courts, adding that the government was sincere in bringing peace to the area. Sufi also said after the appointment of ‘genuine’ qazis, there was no room left for regular judges and lawyers to run the judicial affairs in the area.

Verdicts: Sufi said he would examine the verdicts to be delivered by the qazis as he was a propagator of sharia, adding that women could not work as judges under sharia.

‘Sharia to be enforced in other areas after Swat’

The government would soon appoint qazis in other areas after their appointment in Swat completes, NWFP Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain said on Sunday.

He said the qazis’ appointments in other areas would fulfill the government’s promise of enforcing sharia in the region.

Iftikhar said he had directed officials of the Swat Education Board to refund examination fees collected from students in Swat. He said the reconstruction of destroyed schools in the district would start soon, meanwhile the students in Swat were being taught in makeshift schools. staff report

wonderful news. Jazakkallahu hairan for sharing.
:salam2:

Yes mashallah it is indeed a very good news.

I didn't expected the government to take that bold step. I was thinking that they will back up from that agreement because of the intense pressure from USA, NATO, and india. However mashallah its really a great step.

I have a question for all

Is the sharia law applicable to non-Muslims too? If yes then to what extent
?

Thats indeed a good news. Just to let you people know that shria courts have been working in afghanistan for a long time in those areas where Taliban have their hold.
People are consulting shria courts heavily and they only consult govt. courts to get stamp on papers.

On the very first day of sharia courts there were many people who are filing their complaints..which shows that people have their trust in sharia courts.

Would you believe that on the very first day one judgment was made.

A person owed some money to the other person...and he was not giving back the money....so the sharia court made the decision enforcing this person to pay back 500 rupees every month....

One of my fathers friend had the same problem. He went to Pakistan and invested money there. However some one got his money and was not giving willing to pay back. This friend of my father went to court in 2001...and got the decision in his favor from both high court and the supreme court...
however until now....(from 2001 to 2009) he is unable to recover the money. On the top of that..he spend more money in order to recover the money.:astag:

So see the difference between the sharia courts and the Local Government Court. Sharia court took one day to make the judgement and to ensure that their judgement is implemented.
On the other hand the local government court was unable to implement their decision for 8 years..

Asalaamualaykum,

Mashaallah great news.

Indeed it is a great news that Sharia courts started functioning.

I remember of the saying of ALI (RA)....the more or less translation of it is

"A SOCIETY CAN THRIVE WITHOUT BELIEVING IN ALLAH BUT IT CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT JUSTICE"
