I have kind of stopped watching the news since the war on Gaza...all that I know comes from what my parents discuss over tea or coffee..or what they pause on tv and call me over to watch! (I have become to hate DVRs for this!)...I am having trust issues with things I hear and see these days...and I must say..if *lying & deceiving* were a commodity..*politicians* (from all backgrounds) would undoubtedly own *the big brand name* ones :)

By the way...air is everywhere..and politicians furtively take advantage of it

Hello,

Same here, I just pass over that for now - probably will look at it later. A student said they went to Saudi Arabia and the taxi driving showed them were Osama comes at least once a month and said, the Americans are stupid because he is right here.

Well, I don't know if that is true and in fact I don't know anything.

But, things change with the elite of all countries. Basically, as they change and their needs change so, so does the information that flows to us regular folks as they rally us up like cattle!

My thought is this...without looking at the news...let me see later if I'm way off. No more orange and red alerts etc... Now everything is all good and we are not seperated but, instead united under one world. One for all and all for one (as long as you qualify). One main reason I say this is because the other day on TV I saw something about Afghanistan's people in a refugee camp - just regular people asked for the one's who destoyed everything to just help out a little. What! We are allowed to see these people in a somewhat regular/ soft/ non threatening way? (this statement is meant as humor) So, I'll wait to see what's coming now that Obama (not Osama) will unite the world???

Regards

As salaamu alaikum,

I think Obama's statement made in Turkey today (in regards to not being at war with Islam) was a good attempt at fixing this global mess that Bush has created. InshaAllah, this speech will trigger continued dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims to correct the misconceptions.

I disagree with his statement that Atatürk's "greatest legacy is Turkey's strong and secular democracy..." However, being that this is the President of a country which prides itself on its secularity, I cannot expect much else on that topic.

I, too, am curious to know other opinions on his latest talk.

I think i would be more satisfied with actions than words

I'm on agreement with brother shaheerpak; action speaks louder than words.

What pisses me off to no end is that the news keep rolling stories about some woman getting stoned in Pakistan because she's found out of her house without a man they claim. Then they keep talking about some 75 year old woman who got punished in Saudi Arabia.... They keep playing this stuff over and over and over and over...

Yeah I agree that the US needs a change of stance on this issue in Gaza. However, what will it (the US) gain from defending the Palestinians against Israel? Sadly, this is what it comes down to. This is why, in my opinion, we need to stop relying on countries that don't have our interests at heart to defend our brothers and sisters. Instead, the pressure should be placed on Muslim countries and kingdoms to step up more and have a more physical presence, rather than monetary one... after the fact.

Brother BigAk...I think we are watching the same television program, rather broken record.

Salaam,

What we are doing wrong is wondering what they are doing. We need to do something and that is to remain united, under Islam.

First of all, it's hard to tell whether he means what he says or is it just some political game plan of trying to gain the trust of muslims. You knw what they say trust is a virtue that is earned ,so just mere empty words isn't enough. As far the muslim state is concerned i don't think it's significant whether or not US changes it's foreign policy because we are talking about people who are willing to support just about anyone as long as it is in their interest, so is their trust worth it? they had their chances & they still do but what do they do? nothing for instance occupation of palestine, so this goes on to prove my theory which is they will never come to our aid, so why ask in the first place? We wait & wait for them to do something while we ourselves have the capability & strength, if we would only adhere to the true path & ask Allah swt for help instead of turning to them to do something. As a nation we are weak but we can improve so inshallah let us make the effort of changing ourselves for the betterment of our umma

If they were not doing anything wrong, than why are people dying? why would you say openly that you are not an enemy?

could it just be that oppression is taking place by action and we are patted on the back with kind words and speech. It would be nice to see action to prove otherwise.

If you have time, look in the Arabic newspapers and speak with some people who made it out of Iraq. They will tell you the soldiers use the Quran as target practice. They take dogs and have them lick muslims. They defecate on Quran and show the muslims and say what are you gonna do about it. They openly make ridicule of our beliefs in every way they can come up with. These are the problems that need to be addressed.

Salaam Aleykom brother AK, I think it is absurd first of all because they know well they do not like Islam nor Muslims. How can they like Islam when their ideology is totally the opposite? They know the Islamic stand on alcohol, drugs, zina, interest, casinos, etc so they do noy like Islam whether they say it or not. They wouldn't use the word "Islamic terrorists" or "radical Islam" if they weren't anti-Muslims. Their media, tv, newspapers, magazines, books, etc portray Islam in a negative and dishonest way yet they are not against Islam? Their media lies about Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia, Somalia,Palestine and they are not anti-Muslims? They openly show their dislike when they say "moderate Islam" and "radical Islam" or "liberal Islam". When they say there are certainly "good Muslims" they mean those who are only Muslim by name and do not uphold their deen. You aren't a good Muslim if you are not doing Islam and in my opinion one is not even a Muslim if the person is not really doing Islam, mocks his/her own faith etc. That's not Islam.

No one has to force me not to drink alcohol, nor watch me so that I am doing something right. I do it because it is my deen, because Of Allah and for no one else. If I have have to force my daughter to wear hijab, pray, etc, that is not Islam. A real Muslim will do these thinks on their own. So they have not given me a good reason to believe they are not against Islam. Why don't they give Islam the respect that other faiths have? How is it that a Christian bigoted media or society will go out of its way to respect other faiths who do non even care for Jesus(as) yet these same people can't say anything kind or respectful about Muhammad(saaws) and Islam which is their neighbors?

I find this hypocritical and the things they say about Islam would not be tolerated about any other faith or group. One can't even speak about gays and child molestrors the way these bigots insult Muslims and Islam. It be one thing if what they were saying is true about Islam but it is the exact opposite. They do nothing but slander Islam and often blame Islam with things that Christianity is guilty of. They wouldn't demonize Muslims, Islam and sharia so much if they were not anti-Islamic. So I don't buy that crap at all and I think the media, is very prejudiced, bigoted and one sided when it comes to Islam. Even the few "Muslims" you will see appear on FOX news or CNN to supposedly help clear things up cause even more trouble.

They need to stop lying, stop misusing the Islamic name and stop their bigory. Maybe then they can be trusted and taken serious. Until then, I will continue with my views. If they can't respect Islam, and Muslims, then they do not like us. There is nothing wrong with Muslims wanting to be Muslims and do Islam. If Muslims aren't allowed to live as Muslims and implement the sharia correctly, then I don't take them serious.
