Wow, You should hear what Ahmadinejad was saying, I listened to it live in Geneva. He called them an oppressive rasist zionist regime.

And he said the israelis came all the way from Europe and America to make Palestine into their home.
Many zionist delegates left the building when Ahmadinejad was speaking. What a shame that not even an arab ruler can say sth like that to Israel.

:salam2:

I heard, that he is being critisised because of this statement.
In the morning, before he had spoken in the afternoon I guess, he was also critisied due to old statements.
It was said, that he denied the holocaust and that he wants to Israel to disappear or something like that.

UN furore as Iran says Israel is 'racist'

:salam2:

UN diplomats have walked out of a speech in protest at comments delivered by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Skip related content

Delegates at the racism conference in Geneva disrupted Mr Ahmadinejad's speech when he claimed the Israeli Government is racist against Palestinians.

One heckler, wearing a rainbow-coloured wig, was bustled out of the conference room. But his comments drew applause from some delegations that remained.

Ahmadinejad, who has in the past cast doubt on the Nazi Holocaust, accused Israel of occupying Palestinian territories "on the pretext of Jewish suffering".

Britain and the US were among eight Western states which decided not to send a minister to the meeting over concerns that it would be used as a platform for criticism of Israel.

But British ambassador Peter Gooderham was in attendance and he said: "Such outrageous anti-Semitic remarks should have no place in a UN anti-racism forum."

French ambassador Jean-Baptiste Mattei said: "It is a pity that Mr Ahmadinejad is trying to take this conference hostage. We are ready for serious discussion but this is beyond what should have been expected."

Mr Brown's spokesman said: "The view of the British Government is that we unreservedly condemn the Iranian President's offensive and inflammatory remarks.

"Such remarks have no place anywhere, least of all in a UN anti-racism forum."

He added: "We don't think that the President of Iran's presence in itself constituted grounds to withdraw from the conference, but in the light of his remarks the decision was taken that we would not attend for the part of the speech in which he was speaking."

Its interesting as Ahmadinejad said nothing about Jews, he was refering to Israel and Zionism and he was labelled as a anti-semitic for that.

But British ambassador Peter Gooderham was in attendance and he said: "Such outrageous anti-Semitic remarks should have no place in a UN anti-racism forum."

How can these remarks be anti-semitic, I thought Palestinians are semitic as well.

Last but not the least; Where is there 'so called' freedom of speech now?

Often truth can be very painful to some people.
What a shame that not even an arab ruler can say sth like that to Israel.

At least, all praise to Allah, Malaysia has our own outspoken former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who has been consistently critisizing Israel and US human rights record. Recently he said in a confrence here "...it seems to me that America (under Obama) can change everything except its commitment to Israel". He was branded as "anti-semitic" in 2003 when on his last days in office he took the rostrum of OIC Chairmanship and delivered his famous speech (see link below). I pray for more Islamic leaders to speak out or ship out.
