"revert Shelter website" Update, Need Your opinion

I contacted a muslim web designning company after getting the project information from me this gave me a plan [ I have attached it in pdf]

LIke i said brother and sister, this project should be between all us muslim and brothers so I seek your opinion, Anything that you guyz to add, Delete, substitude.

Also, Any domain sugguestion would be nice, Revert Shelter is not so polite in many people opinion, Sugguestion i got so far

Sorry for this post but i would just like to add
The website developers have mentioned adding some things which i think TTI has it already, since I want this website to be a part of TTI, i think some things are not necessary.

Photo Gallery, which i dont think is necessary since everything is on TTI.
Media, ( OPINION NEEDED), I feel like TTI has all the video, on top of that im working on another website, that contains ALl the videos of scholars of Islam, which will not play on youtube/other non muslim hosting website cuz most often they delete em. So i feel like its not needed

and in Advice and Counselling - I would ask them to add Audio and video help for reverts, BUT allow video only between Same sex, and give the person giving the advice to be able to control the video chat So maybe try to add a feature that the people faces are blurred out so there is privacy.

They hold a mentoring scheme too but obviously for a specific geographical area. It might be an idea to ask them for some advice as they may know from experience what has / hasn't worked.

Salamu alaikkum. I guess you seek some advise from brother Mabsoot as well because he has good knowledge over things like this. Plus you need to make sure that every single thing on the site is according to Quran and Sunnah. And I personally do not think that the Revertmatch thing is a great idea, because we do not really go about finding a wife ourselves but rather we go around asking the wali of the sister, or the wali of the sister goes around looking for a brother. I guess there are much more important things to a revert firstly before marriage inshallah. Because I know of some brother who have married a revert sister, and now the revert sisters are living a miserable life. So its not just anyone you marry, but you marry some one who is pious and things like that. Anyways personally the Revertmatch thing does not sound right to me. Revertbuddy sounds great. I have a few names to suggest...

RevertShade, HelpReverts, RevertNeighbour (sounds long tho ), FamilyofIslam, RevertFoundation, MuslimRevert (very obvious ), NewtoIslam, Onefamily or 1Family, OneUmmah or 1Ummah, RevertGathering, but personally I would suggest you go for ThariqisCool.com (if you want the site to close down that is)

But just gave you my opinion, Inshallah you are the decision maker.

Brother I think you need to ask brother Mabsoot ,before making it part of TTI
Your intention is good ,but to be honest I dont think its good idea ...

Secondly It will be very hard ,in the point that you can't trust everyone on the internet ...Then I think you also mentioned before that you want to match converts in the same area? Thats kind of dangerous ,you never know who is behind the screen ...

If I were new to Islam I wouldn't want that ...You can't trust everyone ..And do you know how many men are hunting for the reverts online ?

Thirdly first thing the converts need is the proper understanding of Islam .Are you ready to teach them that ?

I agree with sister Aisha, it's very risky to let the registration process to be done automatically online. I think the volunteers should consist of recognized islamic institutions only, rather than unknown individuals, because they have the experience of dealing with reverts, and can offer them much more support.

Sorry, I was in a hurry when I posted the above, so let me elaborate:

If I were in your position, I'd create an online database for islamic institutions, to store all their contact information, and add a form where the users can send their requests directly to the institution. It would make it safe for our brothers and sisters, because they are respected institutions instead of some "anonymous user", and it would make the website much easier to manage, because there won't be any registration process whatsoever. Also, I'd consider removing any feature that's available in other muslim websites (e.g. video, audio, images... etc) again for efficiency and quality reasons. The website will focus mainly on establishing connections between new muslims and their regional institutions, and if it succeeds, only then I'd consider adding other features based on the needs of the users.

Hmm im not really sure wat to say , should i be sad ? Well im just going to say that there are always obstacles in something before you start, you dont win a race without trying , you have to work hard for it and overcome the obstacles, everyone hits the wall once but the people that overcome it finish the race.

Im disappointed a lil cuz the whole reason i kept on posting on TTI was cuz we need to work together, I seriously myself dont have the financial asset or time to help cuz i am a student and im very busy but i was taking time out to do something so our brother and sister.

Like everyone is taking out Mistakes but WHY DO YOU THINK IM POSTING IT ON TTI FOR EVERYONE, so everyone can take out the glitches and see what works, Brothers and sister just sitting does nothing we need to do something.

Well i guess the only thing i can do now is just cancel it

Safety: thats why we want to make sure everyone can talk on the forum or online 1st before they meet and when they do meet its in a mosque

About telling some Instituions ..... ASK THE Revert, there is barely any if this was easy then it should have happened before, Brother its not so easy.

I am a born muslim for me its hard to find muslims in the area, i go to the mosque too, people are too busy to help no one wants to do anything this is what muslims have become too busy with this duniya ITS true im not joking thats why I sugguested people that are willing to spare 20 min can help cuz im pretty sure not everyone is the same

My brother, we're only discussing ideas. No one is perfect and we all benefit from each other. My ideas could be totally wrong, because I've never been to a non-muslim country before, and I don't know what it's like to live there, so I posted them here so I could benefit from discussing with my fellow brothers and sisters, and they would benefit from the discussion too. You must try your best to work with other muslims, perhaps see if you can get people in the masjid to assist you.

A lot of these websites that are successful have many people working together.

As for obtaining a list of masjid and organizations, it is easy, go to muslim student association at the University(MSA). There you will find easy list to follow.

The way I do it, if I need to, is I ask 1 or 2 masjids of the 5 in my area, for contact information to other masjids anywhere in the world. usually they do their best to help.

owning a website is extremely easy, making it usefull is hard, that is why it makes it so easy to have people help you with your site.

brother, surely every matter has it's negative as well as positive side. and yes both need to be looked into very carefully...

i agree people these days have lots of insecurities and majority of them have lost their trust in the internet security. people think really hard before going into any such interactions...and looking at the pace at which the world is changing, we can't blame them!

but i think ther is a solution- the site could be such that whoever needs support through forums (like questions,discussions and stuff) could post in the forums there. there matter would be looked into and they'll INSHALLAH be supported and help through words, lectures, videos etc..

But for those who need personal & interactive support, the site could also have the address and phone numbers of various islamic institutions located in most of the countries and areas. i dont know if im explaining it properly or not, but i am trying my best.. like there is a website: http://www.tayyibun.com
mostly the reverts in london would find this site very useful.once they know about it, they can go there and get enough support and encouragement. most of the muslim countries have such institutions that teach and help the new muslims. just like this , if we get to know of as many institutes as possible located in various places and put in their main info on the site, it would be really helpful for the reverts who are not comfortable with the internet interaction that was spoken about earlier....

this would indeed take up lots and lots of time and effort but i think will be fairly beneficial! i hope i was clear enough to be understood..

There are many instituions all over the world that have a new Muslim buddy and counseling services. Some of already been mentioned (by sister Aisha and Naad), I'll refer some others.
