shaving off the beard

salam,

i remember visiting usa. the time after 9/11 when lots of american muslims shaved off their beards and took off their hijabs when times got tough. now they are portraying themselves as 'pious muslims' as an example for the world.

is this allowed in islam or is this a manifestation of the overwhelming love for money that american muslims have and will compromise on religion whenever necessary?

obviously this is not allowed and if this did happen then it was a weakness in the faith of those muslims. Why do we see the muslims suffering all over the world...this is our own weakness and a punishment and a test for the muslims from allah swt...

what we can do is learn from this..and inshaAllah when the muslims realise..then we shall be victorious...

take care :) :)

shaving off the beard - it's not a compulsory thing for a muslim male to do. no problem with that.

taking off the veil - veil is compulsory for a muslim woman no matter what.

is this a manifestation of the overwhelming love for money that american muslims have and will compromise on religion whenever necessary?

i remember a musim scholar said that
- a muslim works in this world very seriously as if he's working for the hereafter. Working hard and gaining money is ok it's an act of worship if done for Allah. But if he loves the money so much than he loves to obey Allah it's a wrong thing it's like he's make a shirk (i forget this in english). Muslim gains money and has been ordered to give alms to those in need.

jazak Allah for your answer.

i see. so at times of peril, it is ok to shave off the beard and remove the hijab as long as this will ensure that you are doing this for the sake of Allah. the logic here is that it will harmony in society and peace between muslims and non-muslims.

but this breeds the question are american muslims slaves of Allah or slaves to society? if Allah commanded to wear the hijab and society says to take it off, whom do american muslims try to please?

if a muslim female does everything for the sake of Allah she will not remove her veil...it's forbidden. (who dont agree with me plz raise ur hand)

You keep on saying in your posts American Muslims are doing this and that. Well the first question is who are we to judge others. or have we arrogated to ourself the right to judge others?

In every society there are people with different levels of Iman, there were many Muslims men who still kept there beards and many Muslim women who wore hijab after 9/11.

What are you trying to prove?

:wasalam:

no i am not sick or scared. i am just making an observation on the modern day muslims. muslims don't outrightly reject their faith, they just reject practising it.

When will you stop generalising. There are 1.8 Billion Muslim (you said it, right), How do you know Muslims dont outrightly reject their faith, have you met all 1.8 Billion of them. Of course there are many hyprocites amongst Muslim Ummah, and its not something new, there have since 14 centuries.

But that goes for any community or society, every community have good, bad and hyprocities. So stop generalising.

By the way a practising Muslim is not ashamed of mentioning his religion as 'Islam', when asked. And when pointed out to him that he has made a mistake by selecting his religion as 'other', he is quick to change it,

Maybe we need some 'house cleaning' here.

waaaa that's so true
but not all of them
we must go back to the definition of a muslim
(i hope not to be that one...)

This do not make any sense??????? How can you remove your hijab in sake of Allah, what are u talking about??? It's your life in danger or something to shave your beard???

Bring the evidence from sunnah and Kuran and then we can talk??

Alhamdulillah I agree with you dear brother.

And to add more removing hijab by Muslim girl or removing beard by Muslim man is haram, and great sin in Islaam.:astag:

I think we have already met with these kind of members who do not have knowlodge about Islaam but still they give them selfe right to critise it.Subhnaallah.

May Allah guide us all

Sallams, I have a question regarding the shaving of the beard

I unfortuanatley have an incurable affliction that had made me lose the hair on one side of my beard right down to the skin, basically a large bald patch on my beard

Can I then trim by beard and say keep a goatee instead

Assalamu Alaikum:)
first of all lets NOT point fingers at particular people and let us NOT generalize. As brother Abdallah said **every community have good, bad and hyprocities**, this is NOT something new. Secondly, I don't think it's fair to say "it is ok to shave off the beard and remove the hijab as long as this will ensure that you are doing this for the sake of Allah". why would Muslims do that?? the last part does NOT make sense at all; how are we going to please Allah while we are disobying HIM(SWT)?
There is this saying "THERE IS NO IBEDIANCE TO THE CREATION WHILE DISOBEYING THE CREATOR" so, this whole thing of doing something for Allah's sake is out question when you are displeasing HIM out of fear of HIS creation! SubhnaAllah, please brothers and sisters let us NOT write somethings that might be hurtful to others and if we would write something let us back it up with evidance from QURAN and SUNNAH inshaAllah ta'ala. If I have said anything that might hurt ANOTHER'S feelings please forgive me. It was NOT my intention.
Wasalamu Alaikum
Allah hafiz NOW and ALWAYS:)
