Alhamdulilah i don't drive...many of my relatives here in egypt keep on asking me to learn to drive(even though i alread hv a license from malaysia) coz it would be easy for me to take my son everywhere when he grows up...but of course my husband personally do not allow it and DRIVING IN EGYPT IS CRAYZZZZZZZZZZZZ lol..egyptian will understand what i mean lol
of course those women who are driving will come and argue with u...so just get prepare brother...lol

they dont allow women to drive cause its fitnah?.....but then how come they allow channels like LBC to air in saudi??...i mean i dont get it......ok if they believe if it causes fitnah if she drives but i believe in certain cases like *emergencies* she should b able to drive but then why air channels like LBC???....i mean thats jz weird on one side saying this will cause fitnah but well on the other side,i know most of u have seen what they show on channels like LBC..

The government doesn't have law enforcement like western countries. Where they could respond through-out the country to problems such that would take place if a women was alone. .

akhi, we have to see the complete picture. scholars do not allow entertainment channels to air. its the government. if ulama will be rulers, they will not allow LBC nonsense. but the problem is that rulers dont listen to scholars always.
scholars adviced govt. in early 1990's not to allow these channels, but they were ignored.

The main job for women is to make a good family and take care of her children , i believe this is the most noble job in the world .........but in case the woman like to work and give something outside within the islamic principles it is Ok but she shoule be carefull not to be cause of fitnah .........Now in Saudi Arabia women are under the pressure of westren style of life trying to follow blindly ....this is the big problem . muslem women should understand that her role in life and that she is something special ........Blindness and foolishness are killing many beautifull islamic values in Saudi Arabia.:astag:

just because everyone is doing it,doesn't make the haram to be halal...
no matter how much a woman can say that she is a muslim..it is very very impossible for her to strictly follow the rule of islam..only very low percentage who manage to do it...may Allah guide everyone ameen..

here in KSA, even when women are sitting in their family cars driven by their drivers, young men keep chasing their cars, sticking out their mobile numbers,etc. (not always but many times)
so imagine the fitnah when she's driving all alone. she can meet anybody she likes. nobody to see where she is going to. dont u think it will increase fitnah?
as sister above said, only few percantage follow Islam properly, dont u think women obsesses with western values, tank-tops, jeans will go on dating if given freedom to drive?

^oh i see, jazakAllah khayran. and ya i remember i heard of this before. i guess it depends on the person. a strong good will person will not do such things and God fearing men wont do such things either.

i dunno myself.
what i do know is that a vast majority of women dont drive very well. they cause a lot of traffic jams, either busy chatting to someone next to them or breaking rules or getting their car stuck or causing an accident or checking themselvbes in the mirror or getting something out from the purse while at the steering wheel.
having said that, i still think they should be able to drive. emergencies can take place. could the women ride horse/animal carts back in the days of the prophet pbuh? if yes then they i dont see a problem with them driving cars as long as they dont block my lane
