Assalaamu 'alaykum!
Assalaamu 'alaykum,

No. You wudhoo does NOT break if you bleed, nor does it break if there is blood on you...

There are hundreds of stories of companions praying while bleeding (or with blood on them)...

EXAMPLE:

a) Ali (ra) carried on praying with an arrow in his leg
b) Khabbaab carried on praying with arrows being shot on his back

And there are many other such incidents...

Plus, how else do you think the mujahideen pray? Are their clothes not covered in blood?!

jazakallah khairan ya akhi i see what you mean.so this general belief that blood makes wudu invalid is false???or could it be that it only applies to jihad and all??

Sister, I think you need to find out if Mosquito blood is najas(impurity) or not. I need to revisit my fiqh of taharah notes. But I dont recollect any ruling for mosquitos.

Perhaps someone can share their knowledge on the matter.

Blood is taahir (pure), if one says it isn't one needs to bring proof... And there is no authentic proof...

Blood is pure and it applies everywhere in all circumstances...

Hope this has helped...

akhi i agree with your points but i'm not sure why here generally blood is considered not tahir...i mean impure.....i don't really know why??

hold on a sec akhi!!something clicked again!!brotherinislam7 was referring to mosquitos blood but that mosquito had MY blood which was spilled:(!! so now akhi brotherinislam7 shouldn't we consider this???suppsoing we say human blood is pure and mostquitos is not.......but mosquito has no blood of it's own that thief got that from poor ME!!

You are asking three questions:

1. Can one continue praying while distracted?
2. Does blood break wudhoo'?
3. If a nafl prayer is invalid, should one re-pray it?

Brief answers:
1. Yes, unless the distraction causes him to mix up or forget words or movements. Killing a bug is allowed during a prayer.
2. Not unless it's plenty. Al-Hasan said that Muslims prayed while they were wounded, Al-Bukhaari reported.
3. You don't have to, but you can. The prophet (PBUH) used to make up nafl prayers that he did regularly when he missed them.

Thank you, JazakAllah Khairyn

During our shaykh's class based on the book "The Prophet's Prayer Described" by Shaikh Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaani he listed the times when movement during salaat would not break the prayer; he said that often the sahabah would use their shoes to kill a snake or scorpion that was near their sujood spot, and would do so after the takbirat ihram. I would assume that killing a mosquito would fall under that same category.

"Not unless it's plenty"

No proof. The sahaabhas used to be drenched in blood and still pray...

Likewise the hadeeth: "Prayer is invalidated by loss of blood the size of a dirham" has been labelled "FABRICATED" By the scholars of hadeeth. Imaam Bukhaaree, and I quote his words, said of it; "It is null and void (baatil)". And Ibn Al-Jawzee has included it in his his collection of forged ahaadeeth...
