Yesterday i recently found out that this one beverage from Lebanon is actually an alcoholic drink marked as "non alcoholic", and my friend which is from Lebanon saw me drink that many times, and then after she told me "Oh by the way tht's really wine your drinking, & everyone here in Lebanon knows, and it's sold in the alcoholic stores..." I was so disgusted i spit that out..hehehe...wasn't so laziza after all...anyways...now that i know it's alcoholic i wont drink it anymore...but honestly i didn't know at all it was alcohol or i wouldn't of ever touched it...it has this weird smell...lol...anyways..just thought i share that...cuz i was like freaking out all yesterday about it:hijabi:

peace out

Sister in Humanity,

Accidents happen and now that you know, you know. We have drinks here in the states like that. O'Douls for instance...it has alcohol in it bnut at such low levels that it slides in under the standards radar...(which I think is such camel poop...call a spade a spade for pete's sake)...

I was given a recipie for a ginger drink that you can make at home. Its cleansing and suppresses the appetite (so I'm told).....I have to make it today, inshallah, and I'll let you know how it is...

That is sort of funny, Znirah: "saw me drink that many times" - good you found out before you drank even more of it!
I'm glad you found out, anyway. It was a mistake - not intentional at all. But it's good you mentioned it so we can all be careful of trusting those "non alcoholic" labels.

Dear Jen - am waiting eagerly for your appetite suppressant ginger drink recipe!

Salaam.

As-salamu 'Aleykum!

Owh, Subhanallah! you actually reminded me of a time i went to an uncle's house and he had these sort-of alcohol drinks stocked in his fridge, it was said to be called "beer bilaa danbi". He said it's alcohol free, but i doubt it subhanallah. I mean, how can Alcohol be "bilaa danbi-sinless"? I believe he later stopped drinking them though, Alhamdulillagh. may Allah swt guide us all.

,,,But ukhty, at least you didn't accidently eat "pork"! Subhanallah, How I wish i never went to that resturaunt.

Ginger/Qur'an/Correction

Brothers and Sisters,

First off, allow me to correct something I said that I have just found out was incorrect. I just spoke with my sister-by-choice who is the one who gave me the recipie and she corrected me in the "fact" about it being an appitite SUPPRESSANT. It does aid in digestion but does not suppresse the urge to eat...tho, if you drink a large glass with water, you won't eat as much cause you're belly is fuller! lol!

I did learn that ginger is mentioned in the Qur'an and that it was sent to the prophet as a gift once. I found this posted on a forum so someone else will have to check the truth of it for me, as I do not have the knowledge yet to do so myself.

During the time of the prophet Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam), the Byzantine Emperor once sent a jar of pickled ginger to Allahs messenger Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam as a gift and Allahs messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) ate from it and gave a piece to each of his companions (radiAllahu anhum). It is stated in Tafseer Mazhari that the Arabs had a great liking for ginger and they used it as a medicine and as a drink.

I can tell you that it smells REALLY good in my kitchen right now! lol!

Funny! You know, when my parents first immigrated to Australia, my mother went to a butcher there and he sold her pork, instead of veal. Pork was more expensive at that time. She was a little sceptical, then went she went home and cooked it (breaded like schnitzel), she realised it was pork - so she called up all her friends from work to come and have dinner. She says they were delighted with the way she'd cooked it!

I also once bought some jelly crystals here in the UAE from a Spinney's store, and ate a whole packet before noticing there were pork products in the ingredients. But that was my mistake, because I had gone into the pork product section without realising. I had pretty bad diarrhoea after eating it - which I was glad about!

Jen - I admire your honesty, but I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that the ginger drink isn't an appetite suppressant! I will drink it and hope for the placebo effect to kick in.

Salaam.

Bismi'llaah, beer bila danbi aah?? !! they got some jokes wallahi.....the name sounds sooo funnyy!!!
anyway, I googled it as I had NO idea where these things are from. I found out that its actually beer but the people who make it take out "all" the alcohol in it.....thats where they got the name Beer Bila Danbi. It sounds weird and suspecious to me though......how can YOU as a Muslim drink beer??? and yet say its not sinful?? I mean....its just crazy world....and I always say ::This is how you know Dajjal is in the corner::
I ask Allaah to guide us,
PS: sister, I am glad you found out it was alcohol.....Yaayy!!!:hearts:
