saying MILAD UN NABI MUBRAK means, HAPPY BIRTH of Prophet (PBUH) or something like that, don't know the exact word in English...but it means the like saying Merry Christmas.

if they are celebrating the date of birth, then say them:
"all the matter which have been newly introduced into the religion is innovation, and every innovation is misguidance and every missguidance is going ashtray , every going ashtray is going to be in Hellfire "
there is not a single sahih hadeeth that is saying that Rasul Allah salla Allahu Alaihi wa sallam was born in 12 of rabi al awwal.

there is no dispute among scholars that he salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam was born in Monday, and he salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam used to fast in that day.

so whoever wants to show his love and respect to him salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, he should fast every monday, rasul salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, used to do it as a nawafil, and to thank Allah, so we should consider it as a sunnah.

and we should follow the sunnah not once in a year, once in a month, but every week...at our level best.

and Allah knows the best.

Assalam Alaikum: Br. Allah sent Muhammad (saw) as a glad tiding to all human beings. Birth of Prophet (saw) is indeed auspicious. Just responding to a greeting in same way,I personally don't think would be Non-islamic. Going ahead with procession and all other innovations is not permissible.

As-salaamu'Alaykum,

Please, before posting, use the advanced search function because many questions have already been answered.

For example:

http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52050

http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3405

http://www.turntoislam.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1373

The answers above should be enough.

In terms of response, look at what the above says and complement this with gentleness and patience. It is better that we try to adhere to the Qur'aan and Prophet Muhammad's :saw: Sunnah (instead of introducing innovations; there is a kind of irony in this if you look at it properly).

Therefore, I have closed this thread.

Walaykum Salaam.
