1) Yes, its stupid and idiotic that in order for a ruling in a lawsuit to be made, Islam had to be "declared" a religion.
" The fact that a court of law in the United States would actually have to make such a finding is a sad commentary on where we are today in the United States in terms of religious literacy."
2) This was NOT a news story...it was an editorial....just for the record and at the bottom you read the words "The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of Stephen Prothero."

I have known this all my life
that court around the world has recognised Islam
for instance making
the swear on Holy Quran(Islam's holy book)
in court.
Don't tell me that: some people didn't know court's procedure all these years
