If I know I am going to be near funktown I carry a handkerchief and dab it with perfume the old fashioned way. Slip the handkerchief in your sleeve.

Wa alaikome salam

   "Funktown" OMGness this part had me laughing so hard!!!! Unfortunately I have asthma so this suggestion wont work for me! But it was an excellent suggestion!

Assalaam walaikum,

I think we need to understand that it is wrong to attack people for cultural differences.

I am offended.

Here we are ready to embark upon Ramadan and this is all you can think about. Some of you have recently left the world of the kuffir and you are upset with Muslims?

Seriously folks...do not look at the mote in your neighbors eye when you have a log in yours.

Good night.

:salam2:

Where did I post that I was upset with Muslims? I just said that sometimes I have awkward moments around my brothers when I am obviously the only one at masjid not of Asian, African, or Arab descent.

I am sorry if anyone took my words the wrong way.

Assalamu Alaikum:

Dear Aapa,Will the tag ''Reverted=Converted" ever leave our head?.

Why anyone never (may Allah (SWT) forgive) uses such tags for Sahaba, weren't they reverts?.

By pointing towards unhygienic habits of local Muslims of my city, have I raised finger towards Deen of Allah?.

Hygiene is not a component of a culture but it is an etiquette.

Regards.

Assalaam walaikum,

First: For the reverts.

Do not be upset when you are referred to as a revert. That should be a blessing.
You walked out of the duyna to the correct path. You seek knowledge.
You make everyone want to strive to be better Believers.

Second:

Hygiene is culture and Islam. There is always the middle ground.

As an American, I do the over-bathing thing. Americans shower 24/7. We are some of the cleanest people in the world. We change clothes at least once a day and maybe more. We always find an excuse to take a shower.
Thus we are obsessed by it.

Tell me if I am wrong but if you live flat in the middle of India, are there still not remnants left of the caste system. How do Muslims deal with that.
Who becomes the cleaners. Could this not be a problem of the caste system.
Often people become very lazy when they have servants and refuse to do manual labor.

In no means am I belittling anyone. I am trying to understand the complete picture.

Yes,I was a Brahman but still never a Brahman. It was painful and suffocating for me when an Human Being was rendered to an inferior status for no reasons but his work.

I do not exaggerate but best of Human Beings I have ever met are Muslims.

I end the thread from my side as regards to further discussions.

InshaAllah for my best effort to dissolve in Muslims Ummah.

Regards.

When someone has nice heated and cold running water, of course they can shower any time they want. So I think resources have a lot do with cleanliness. I really don't think there is anything cultural about cleanliness, it's a personal thing. Some people are clean and neat and some are not, it has nothing to do with culture. You can even see this in children. For example, take my two nephews, one of them hates being dirty, when he was only 4 he would never want anything, food or dirt to get on his shirts and would always ask me to give him showers! lol. Now that he's five, he is always making sure the windows are open and his room is clean! lol. MashaAllah I just used to wonder at this kid, still a baby and he would be concerned about how clean he is. On the other hand, his younger brother, doesn't care if plays in the dirt! so I really think its one of those personal traits...Allahu A'lam

Assalamu allaicum wa raahmatulah wa baarakatuhu

Dear brother we Muslims should and do not seperate people or Muslims because of their color skin astagfirullah, so is better that we do not use those words for ourselfes or for other people for the sake of Allah.

And Alhamdulilah there are also many born Muslims who are white skin, like in Bosnia, Albania, because Islam is for all people and we should never seperate ourselfe on diffrent races but be one Ummah, Inshallah.

May Allah forgive me if I said anything wrong to you dear brother.

It was only remainder for all of us and for the sake of Allah Inshallah.
