if a individual cant touch his head with water due to injuries from recent medical work, is his wudu still valid if he performs everything but does not run his finger with water over his head?

Is there a bandage on the head?

Would actually running the fingers, without pressing, cause any harm?

Assalamu Aleykum brother. My suggestion would be to do Tayamum. And Tayamum is done by rubbing earth/clean soil/dust on the face and the two arms (including the elbows).

in neither of the links the mention of doing tayammum on the head is mentioned, it is mentioned to do tayammum on the hands, face and arms

would u know if we shud do tayammum on the head then?
:wasalam:

:wasalam:

tayamum doesn't involve the head. It's an alternative to wudu and is done as prescribed in the links and below.

Tayammum is done as follows: you strike the earth with your hands, then you wipe your whole face, then you wipe each arm with the other hand.

JazakAllah khair brother, but i can do all the parts of wudu except wiping my head so should i leave the whole wudu then and just do tayammum?

As the first link states:

If a person is wounded in one of the areas of wudu' and is not able to cover the wound with a bandage, he should perform wudu' except for the wounded body part, for which he should then perform ablution with sand (tayammum).1 (Note that this means one performs normal tayammum, not actually placing the sand on the wound itself.)

Which means do normal wudu and skip the head part and then do tayammum as previously described inshallah.

yes, running the fingers would cause harm, due to the wounds

:wasalam:

Wa `alaykum salaam wa rahmatullaah

When you say that running the fingers would cause harm- then does this mean that if you run your fingers over a part of your head, then it would cause harm as well? i.e. is the pain all over the head, or only parts of it?

If it won't cause harm by running your fingers over a small part of your head- then do that inshaa'Allaah. As it is not waajib to wipe over the entire head- this was the view of the shaafi`iyyah. Their evidence was the hadeeth of Al-Mughirah ibn al-Shu`bah reported by Muslim that "The Prophet :saw2: performed ablution and passed wet hands on his forelock, over the turban and over the two leather socks."

The Messenger of Allaah passed wet hands over his forelock only- so based on this they said it is not waajib to wipe over the entire head. Please bear in mind that they did not say that it is not waajib to wipe over the head at all- rather it was referring to whether wiping the entire head is waajib or not.
