:salam2:
yes, running the fingers would cause harm, due to the wounds
Wa `alaykum salaam wa rahmatullaah
When you say that running the fingers would cause harm- then does this mean that if you run your fingers over a part of your head, then it would cause harm as well? i.e. is the pain all over the head, or only parts of it?
If it won't cause harm by running your fingers over a small part of your head- then do that inshaa'Allaah. As it is not waajib to wipe over the entire head- this was the view of the shaafi`iyyah. Their evidence was the hadeeth of Al-Mughirah ibn al-Shu`bah reported by Muslim that
"The Prophet :saw2: performed ablution and passed wet hands on his forelock, over the turban and over the two leather socks."
The Messenger of Allaah passed wet hands over his forelock only- so based on this they said it is not waajib to wipe over the
entire head. Please bear in mind that they did not say that it is not waajib to wipe over the head at all- rather it was referring to whether wiping the
entire head is waajib or not.
