Seeking Allah's Mercy

Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
^Wa`alaikim salaam warahmatullaah!
Alright, here goes...

1)she[A sahaabiyah again! Keep the trend alive sisters:)] was present at the battles of Uhud, al-hudaybiyyah, khaybar, hunayn and yamama. But her most noble role was at Uhud. Why?

2) She lost her hand at the one of the battles mentioned above. Which one was it?

3) Also at one of the battles, after her son was wounded and bled profusely, she said to him, "Go and fight the people, my son!" after she bandaged his wound.

*second clue is a great giveaway, I know...*smile*

Wa alakumasalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu. . .

It's Umm Amaara.

And she lost a hand in the battle of Yamama.

I just did sister. I googled the answer to 2nd clue. But I knew the name the moment I read the first clue. We had a poem in urdu on her.

Edited to add clues:

1) She was very beautiful and married at the age of 20.

2) She proved to be a blessing for her people.

3) Her beauty worried one of the prophet's:saw: wives, and she tried not to let this sahabiyya see the prophet.

Got It!! She's Juwairiyyah bint al-Harith!:) the answer was under my nose the whole time(as she's obviously among the Ummahaatul mu'mineen) and I was looking elsewhere.. Darn!

For clue number 3, it was `Aisha bint Abi Bakr that her beauty worried..:)

Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Reminder of the Rules:

Assalamu’alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

This excercise will be to increase our knowledge and love for the Greatest Generation that ever walked this earth: The Sahaabah.

What you do:

1) Post three facts about any of the Sahaabah/Sahaabiyaat, we will guess which one it is you’re talking about based on that information. Simple as that.

2) Try to use own knowledge and books as much as possible for this game, use internet sparingly. (Wanted to ban the use of the net to find answers in this game..we'll see how it goes)

3) Stay on topic

Lets review the rules, add a few details..

4) If you guessed correctly then you have to go next (really!).

5) Giving bonus clues is okay but no more than 2.

6) Reference your answers, not asking for much, a book title where you read about the Sahaabi, a hadeeth reference where you came accross the answer perhaps?

7) If it doesn't look like anyone will know the answer, then you may tell us the answer after some time.

8) Then, you nominate someone else to take the next turn; any member from the forum. That way we can get a more varied participation here.

Annoying, I know.

Yep! that's her. And yes again Aisha may Allaah be pleased with her was worried about letting her see the prophet:saw:.

She was afraid that once the Muslims realized who she was, they would demand an exorbitant ransom for her safe release. After the Muslims had returned to Medina with their booty and prisoners, she demanded to see the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) hoping that he would help to prevent what she feared. Seeing how beautiful she was, A'isha was not keen on her seeing the Prophet.

But she persisted, and eventually she was permitted to see the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and was taken to him while he was with A'isha. After she had finished speaking, the Prophet thought for a moment, and then said, "Shall I tell you what would be better than this?"

He then asked her to marry him, and she immediately accepted. Although Juwairiyah was young and beautiful and of noble lineage, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was thinking of how to save her and all her tribe from an ignoble fate. By marrying Juwairiyah, the Banu Mustaliq would be able to enter Islam with honor, and with the humiliation of their recent defeat removed, so that it would no longer be felt necessary by them to embark on a war of vengeance that would have continued until one of the two parties had been annihilated. As soon as the marriage was announced, all the booty that had been taken from the Banu Mustaliq was returned, and all the captives were set free, for they were now the in laws of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Thus A'isha once said of Juwairiyah, "I know of no woman who was more of a blessing to her people than Juwairiyah bint al-Harith." After they were married, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) changed her name was Barra to Juwairiyah.
Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullaah,

Reminder of the Rules:

Annoying, I know.

So it's against the rules to quote the bits related to the clues? Are is it just a general reminder, Major?

Wa-alaykum assalam wa rahmatullaah,

Umm Salamah radiAllaahu anha? (Edit: I knew Sulaym wasn't right, it was hanging by a thread in my mind and so I went for Sulaym, but its Salamah ..)

As for the rules, don't worry, its all common sense and obvious I think, if you take a read..

Assalamu'alaykum,

2)For a year or so, she'd cry and wallow in her sadnesss because of an incident that happened to her.

Umm Salamah radiAllaahu anha would cry because her son was re-claimed by her husbands tribe, her own tribe did not give her permission to migrate to Madeenah, whilst her husband was in Madeenah; so this family was completely seperated for the duration.

________________

I'm going to go for a Sahaabi, (next time though inshaAllaah I'll definitely choose a Sahaabiyyah)

1) He (radiAllaah anhu) faught and killed a widely feared mushrik on the battle of Khandaq after being refused permission by Rasulullaah twice, on the third time this Sahaabi was granted permission to fight him, in some versions it does say he was granted permission on the second time he requested.
2) He (radiAllaah anhu) got into a dispute with a kafir at one point in time over a stolen item; the Khalifah of the Muslims was involved in this dispute when it was taken to the judge.
3) Died in 40 AH

I never know if I’ve made it too easy, or too hard, with this one I fear if I give even the slightest more hint, all of you will get it immediately. (I've included a trick in my clues, which I hope works!)

Be sure to provide further information about the incidents in clues 1 + 2, if you can.

Zat ma Ziztor eez 'Ali ibn abi talib.

Story behind clue 2:

D
URING his caliphate, Ali Bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) saw some armor of his with a Christian. He decided to take the matter up legally, so he took the dispute to Shurayh (the judge).
Ali said, “This is my armor, and I have neither sold it nor given it away.” Shurayh said to the Christian, “What have you to say about what the Leader of the Believers claims?” The Christian replied, “It is my armor, although I do not regard the Leader of the Believers to be a liar.”
Shurayh then turned to Ali, “O Ameer Al-Mu’mineen, do you have any proof (of ownership)?” Ali laughed and said, “Shurayh is correct, I have no proof.” So Shurayh judged that the armor belonged to the Christian.
The Christian took it and began to walk away but then he returned. He said, “As for me, I testify that this is the judgment of the Prophets – the Leader of the Believers himself takes me to his judge and the judge rules against him! I bear witness that there is no deity deserving worship but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. By Allah, the armor is yours Ameer Al-Mu’mineen. I followed the army when you were on your way to the Battle of Siffîn and the armor came out of your equipment.” ‘Ali said, “If you have accepted Islam, then the armor is yours.”

– Ibn Kathir, Al-Bidayah wa Al-Nihayah, vol. 8 pg. 5. __

I'll post the other clue later, first confirm I'm right and allow your VMs to us, innocents or you won't get any work done

EDITED:

Sister Suhaanah can answer Inshaa'Allaah.

Double edit:

I hope you were takling about this incident:

When 'Amr was completely powerless against 'Ali's firm grip on his throat, He gathered the spittle in his mouth and spat into the face of Ali! He knew what would happen. He knew that there would be a sharp intake of breath, that Ali's right arm would shoot into the air and then plunge the dagger into his throat. Amr was a brave man and could face death without flinching. He arched his back and raised his chin to offer his throat to Ali, for he knew what was to come. But what happened next left him even more bewildered.

Ali rose calmly from Amr's chest, wiped his face, and stood a few paces away, gazing solemnly at his adversary. "Know, O Amr, I only kill in the way of Allah and not for any private motive. Since you spat in my face, my killing you now may be from a desire for personal vengeance. So I spare your life. Rise and return to your people!"

The Giant rose. But there was no question of his returning to his people a loser. He would live a victor, or not at all. Intending to make one last attempt at victory, he picked up his sword and rushed at Ali. Perhaps he would catch Ali unaware. Ali had just enough time to pick up his sword and shield and prepare for the fresh assault. The blow which the Giant now delivered in furious desperation was the most savage blow of the encounter. His sword shattered Ali's shield, but in doing so lost its force and impetus, and could then do no more than inflict a shallow cut on Ali's temple. The wound was too slight to worry Ali. Before the Giant could raise his sword again, the Zulfiqar flashed in the sunlight, and it's tip slashed open the Giant's throat.

Asalamaoalaikom wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu. . .

I don't see sister Al-fajr confirming the story any sooner, so I'll just go ahead, do my job and post the clues:

a) She's given a special name for her special services to the prophet :saw: and his best friend in times of need. (What's the name and the service she provided).

b)The wife of one of the ten people promised Paradise by the Messenger of Allâh :saw:.

c) A destitude wanted to start a business in the shadow of her house, but she asked him to ask her again in front of her husband. She posed a question in order to solicit the opinion of her husband and when his reaction was found favorable, she agreed to this proposal.

A fine example of a good wife (may Allaah be pleased with her). who is she?

P.S. I know this one's easy*Smile*

Assalamu'alaykum,

Oops, sorry sis.

You editted it and I didn't know, BarakAllaahu feeki, yes that is the exact incident I was talking about,

"Know, O Amr, I only kill in the way of Allah and not for any private motive. Since you spat in my face, my killing you now may be from a desire for personal vengeance. So I spare your life. Rise and return to your people!"

Salaam alaikum!

Answering to sister *Seeking's..* post, she's Asmaa' Bin Abi Bark innit? The first clue was a dead give-away for me..=) She was given the name, 'one with the two waist-bands' or something similar. And it's been a while since I read her story but in short, she used to take food and help the prophet and her father out when they were hiding out in the caves back when the Quraish's were out for their blood.. And one day the she ripped her waist-band into two so as to make it easier for them to hold the container that she put food in for them..right?

And she was the wife of Zubair ibn al-`awwaam..one of the ten that were promised Jannah!

Don't really know much about the third clue..sorry:S
