Can someone advise me about Sunni Muslims..

Salaam everyone

I'm new to this website hope everyone is in good health insha'Allah.

OK here is my question basically I am a Sunni Muslim and follow Ahle Sunnat wa Jamaat and I believe in Milaad, Peer and doing Hatam's etc etc. However if someone does not believe in the gathering of a Milaad, Peer and doing Hatam's etc but only believe in the Quran and to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) does this mean that they are still a Sunni Muslim? I'm gettig confused and would appreciate it if someone can make this clear to me.

For example, did the prophet celebrate Milaad? did his companions celebrate Milaad? If they did celebrate Milaad then we should have an evidence - from the Quran or Hadeeth from the Sunnah. If there is not evidence then that means they did not celebrate. therefore, we should not celebrate Milaad....

The same goes for the other events.

your post says, you are from south east Asia, more likely Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, however, thats not the issue.

what is Milaad? actually maulid, means birthday.
Peer? sufi or even grave worshiper
I don't even know what Hatam is!

this is not part of Ahl Sunnah wal jama'h
there is no hadeeth and no evidence or proof from the salaf as salih practicing this, these are all bidah and shirk.

please, research again, because this is the foundation of our eeman.

Yeah sis doing milaad un nabi and going to peers etc. is neither in Qur'aan nor the sunnah. You wouldn't really be sunni if you do those things because it's bid'ah and shirk.

And what is hatams? Do you mean khatam al Qur'aan, where people sit and do tilawah for certain situations? E.g when a person dies etc.

What's your definition of wahabbi? You know only Allaah is A-Wahhab and calling people wahabbi just because they strictly follow Qur'aan and sunnah is quite insulting.

I'm sorry but Muslims that follow the Quran and Sunnah are more Sunni Muslims than Muslims that do bid'ah like Milad. Forget going to pirs and hatams. That stuff is the farthest thing from the Sunnah and those who refer to themselves as Sunnis should stay away from these practices.

As for calling Sunni Muslims "Wahhabis", it's interesting how it's always the Muslims doing bid'ah that call Sunnis that. Do they even know what a Wahhabi is? Nope. They just slap them with that label because those supposed "Wahhabis" probably told them that their practices were haram and thus they were spoiling their fun.

That's the new definition of Wahhabi these days. A Sunni Muslim on the TRUE deen that calls Muslims practicing bid'ah out on their ridiculous practices.

For these people, Wahhabi = Spoilsport

Sunnis are Muslims who believe and praise the Prophet as a human being (which is precisely what he was) and the Messenger of Allah.

But there's no such thing as 'wahhabi Muslims'. It's just a huge misunderstanding. The people that praise the prophet salla Allaahu 'alaiyhi was-sallam so much that they start worshipping him (e.g making du'aa) go OTT and when they're told not to do so, they label others as wahhabi, so that's why I asked you to understand where you're coming from.

I wouldn't recommend you calling people wahhabi because there's no such thing and people may get offended. I also recommend you to read 'Kitaab At-Tawheed' by Muhammad Ibn 'Abdul Wahhab.
