~~~Alhamdulillah~~~
:salam2:
I hope that this post finds everyone in the best of health and iman in sha' Allah.
There is something that made me wonder and gave me goosebumps(in a good way),it made me feel good.
We all have read Qur'an and read about creation of our father Hazrat Aadam('alyhissalam).
As it says in Qur'an:
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن صَلْصَالٍ مِّنْ حَمَإٍ مَّسْنُونٍ
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.[15:28]
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."[15:29]
وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْمَاءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ فَقَالَ أَنبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
And He taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, "Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful."[2:31]
وَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers."[2:35]
I was wondering how we are born with parents and Hazrat Aadam('alyhisalam) was created without parents.
We have parents and teachers who teach us,but Hazrat Aadam('alyhissalam) was taught the name of all things by Allah himself!
I was wondering how Hazrat Aadam('alyhissalam) must have felt when he first came into being and opened his eyes and saw the beautiful world around him?
And how how he must have felt being taught by Allah(subhanahu wa ta'ala) Himself the name of all those wonderful things he saw?
What an elevated feeling it must have been!!The aesthetics is unimaginable!!
Allahu 'aalam.
Indeed to Allah we belong and indeed to Him shall we be returned.
Qul HuwaAllahu Ahud!
Asalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraakaatuh,
I felt the same strange "awe" if you may call it when I read the verses, before reading your words. Strange that I never looked at it this way before.
I'm dazed just thinking about it. May Allaah bless us with the pleasure of looking at His noble face and the honor of talking to Him directly.
Wa 'alaikumassalam WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatuhu,
BarakAllahu feeki sister and Ameen to you du'a.
I feel that when truth is opened in our hearts,we can get a hint of the feeling of awe of the truth comes from Allah.
As I was thinking,I also remembered the following verses from Surah Ad Duha
أَلَمْ يَجِدْكَ يَتِيمًا فَآوَىٰ
Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَىٰ
And He found you lost and guided [you],[93:7]
وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَىٰ
And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
[93:6-8]
When the truth came in contact with Prophet :saw: it filled him with an awe that baffles minds and he :saw: ran to Hazrat Khadijah(radiallahu ta'ala anha) and said "Cover me,cover me".
It seems like a kind of reminder,reminding ourselves of ourselves and what we are.When truth opens itself on ourselves,it humbles us,the more it humbles us or we get humbled the closer we get to Allah.I recall a hadith whose mahfoom was sajdah is the position in which is the closes position to Allah,the state of absolute humbleness and humility and submission,humbling ourselves whilst gloryfying Allah,whose glory floats high above everything and everyone.Allahu 'aalam
I don't know how to put it in words,may Allah forgive me if I am wrong.
Wa aleykum salaam
(shukran brother)
Indeed to Allah we belong
and indeed to Him shall we be returned.
Sadaqa Llah
You're welcome brother.
Indeed Qur'an is a reminder to us,reminding us of where we came from why we are here and where we will go from here.
Wa Feek BaraakAllaah.
About reminder ourselves of ourselves, a couple of days ago our teacher was talking about how we never think who we are, about our origin and our reality. We were discussing Surah Furqan ayah 63-64 which talks about the characteristics of Ibaad Ar Rahman. One of the characteristic of these blessed people mentioned was that they walk upon the earth with humility, lowering their gaze and being humble. He then mentioned the Ayah which says a human came from a "Nutfa". How impure and lowly is the Nutfa.
That is what really struck me, he said we become so arrogant sometimes that we can't think except along the lines of "Me, Myself and I" and we forget what we really are or where we came from. Every cell in our body came from something that even we as humans consider impure and dirty. And we go about head on with Allaah - May He be Glorified and Exalted.
Now when I am saying astagfaar I try to remind myself of my origin, of this drop of impure water. That helps in thinking of myself no higher than I am.
I guess it is because of this recent revelation of a human beings reality that I found another meaning to the verses you share in the OP. Aadam Alaihi Salam is blessed in this sense that he was created by Allaah's pure hands. His Origin is Blessed and by Allaah's will, so will be his end.
Wa Feek BaraakAllaah.
About reminder ourselves of ourselves, a couple of days ago our teacher was talking about how we never think who we are, about our origin and our reality. We were discussing Surah Luqman ayah 63-64 which talks about the characteristics of Ibaad Ar Rahman. One of the characteristic of these blessed people mentioned was that they walk upon the earth with humility, lowering their gaze and being humble. He then mentioned the Ayah which says a human came from a "Nutfa". How impure and lowly is the Nutfa.
Masha'Allah TabarakAllah sister that is very thoughtful post and that ayah qaalu salam,it is one of my favorite ayah.Indeed our creation is from such a thing which we even hesitate from mentioning.
As Allah said in Qur'an in the following ayahs of surah Yasin:
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?
وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَن يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ
And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"
[36:77-78]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icn1abDTYVw[/ame]
That is why sister,I oppose the western ideologies promotion of individualism,which has been given the sugar coated names of liberalism/secularism/freedom of expressions etc.This does nothing but make people arrogant and grow away from their Lord in darkness
The real knowledge of self is related to the knowledge of Allah,His Glory and Majesty and Height and Might and our humility and Humbleness and lowlessnes before our Lord.
I often quote this ayah nowadays,it's one of my favourites:
وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ نَسُوا اللَّهَ فَأَنسَاهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
And be not like those who forgot Allah , so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient.
[59:19]
Surah Al Hashr
In our arrogance we forget our creator and fall in sins and bad deeds.The Might of Our Lord,when Hazrat Musa('alyhissalam) asked Allah to show Himself to him,Allah said "lan tarani" ..""You cannot see Me," and then we are all aware what happened.He is The One who created life and death!
This arrogance is the disease sister which takes us away from the creator,making us lost in ourselves, deluded in idolising ourselves and forgetting our Creator and other people whom we have to give their rights,ultimately to our doom.
Allah said He created us in "best of moulds" and Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
[95:5,6]
When we look around,we have become so low as to belie our own fitrah and cover it up,subhanAllah our actions have become lowest of the low.
A reminder to myself before anyone else.
May Allah forgive and grant us His good pleasure and a look at his face.Ameen
Sorry, just though I'd point out: It is Soorah al-Furqaan.
On that point I remember listening to someone, can't remember who exactly it was. But an arrogant man was being big-headed and it was said to him: "You are from a drop of nutfah and you will return to the dust of this earth and in between both of them, you are nothing but a carrier of faeces"
Asalamo`Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraakaatuh,
Very true brother, I made a mistake. BaraakAllaahu feek for pointing it out. I'll edit that one as it's misleading. Here are the verses:
وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلَامًا
And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.
[Surah Furqaan ayaah : 63]
وَالَّذِينَ يَبِيتُونَ لِرَبِّهِمْ سُجَّدًا وَقِيَامًا
And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing. [Surah Furqaan ayaah : 64]
May Allaah guide us to be amongst those mentioned in these ayah.
Sobhan'Allaah so true, that's is our root and reality, our essence. May Allaah purify us, we dare disobey him when this is what we are. Astagfirullah.
Is that quotation some scholars words or is it a Hadeeth?
That's another point, giving the creation of Allaah their due rights or be kind to them. Our egos won't let us 'forgive' or overlook the slightest of their mistakes. .This part of Surah Furqan Ayah :63 reminds me of the following video: . .and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness
[yt]KtshCmkD_RA[/yt]
We get to have the pleasure of divine only after we let our pride go and act who we are; Slaves of Allaah. Who has no value except that which Allaah has blessed him with.
BaraakAllaahu feek for sharing this post. Ameen to your duas.
Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,
Something I'd like to point out too. In Suraah Luqman, there are verses that talk about humility too; in the many advices that Luqman gave to his son.
"And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.
And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys."
[Luqman, 31: 18-19]
Saheeh International Translation.
Though based on the number of ayaat that you mentioned, yeah, you were referring to Surah Al-Furqan.
Wa feeki BarakAllah,
Indeed sister Islam is a deen which asks us to surrender our egos,desires and everything to Allah.That is one way to acquire peace,when our egos have surrendered to Allah,no one can hurt them,no matter what they say.For it is a kind of an ego death.We should have zero ego for Allah has infinite ana.When we give other people their rights,that is one way to acquire peace as well.
Masha'Allah brother Nouman Ali Khan always has good advices,like repelling evil with good,indeed it is easy to say but hard to do.He also talked about khashiah in his series of discussion on suratul Baqarah,where he sais how people those who have khashi'ah are the ones thoroughly convinced of meeting with Allah and to Him they shall be returned,like it's daily part of their lives,hence whatever they do they have have khashi'ah.
