Ouagadougou As many as 118 villagers embraced Islam in Burkina Faso thanks to the efforts made by the office of the International Islamic Propagation Society. Those who converted to Islam included mainly people of two villages together with the village chiefs and their families. They pronounced Shahada at a ceremony organized by the preachers of the society.
Meanwhile, another 53 people embraced Islam in the village of Takaba in Koulpelogo province, 170 km from the capital Ouagadougou. Addressing a ceremony organized in this regard, an official of the society urged the Da'awa workers to conduct religious classes to enable the converts to learn the fundamentals of Islam and its rituals in a much simpler way.
Meanwhile, the International Islamic Propagation Society financed reconstruction of the Muhiyaddin Mosque in a Sri Lankan province 160 km from the capital Colombo. The foundation stone laying ceremony for the reconstruction was held recently. Several dignitaries, who addressed the function, spoke about various activities being carried out by the society in serving Islam and Muslims in the tiny island nation in the Indian Ocean.
