salam aleykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu
I will introduce myself with a few words. I'm from Holland but I'm living in Turkey since a while. Many years I was christian, but when I grow up I was not satisfied anymore in christianity. Too many questions I had and no one who could give me an answer. When I was 40 years old I leaved christianity forever. Many years after that there was no any religion in my life. I didnt hear anything about Islam. Maybe cause I was living in a little village in the east of Holland without any muslims. I didnt now anything about Islam, only the usual things from the media.
Than I decided to have holidays in a country where I didnt go before.
My family was in real shock when I told them that I want to go to Jordan.
In their eyes it was a very dangerous country with all this Arabs.
They couldnt stop me, I had to go! I had already my ticket to Amman en there was no one who was able to stop me to go there. Oh, my mam was very angry, but I told her that I was an adult woman and also my son was not happy about my decision. So, in the early spring of 2004 I went to this country. I didnt know anyone there and also I didnt know anything about this country except what I found on internet.
After a short time I met there good moslimfriends and they told me about Islam. I was so happy that my friends were able to give me all the answers I had, and many times I had to cry because deep in my heart I knew Allah called me. He touched me with his Love. He touched me with the Truth. Thatswhy I had to go to Jordan. Thatswhy I met my muslimfriends.
I was in love, in love with Islam. Everyday, every moment, I said, Alhamdullilah. And this love is growing, every day more, every day deeper.
I didnt want to go back to Holland, my wish was to stay in Jordan near my Palestinian muslimfriends and it was also their wish. I felt myself sick when I was thinking about that I have to go back to Holland. Alone, without any muslimsfriend in my area, in my village. But I had to go back, it was not possible to stay, but I promissed my friends and myself that I will be back very soon.
After one month I went again to Jordan and in company with my friends I said the shahada. I cant wait any longer. I wanted to be muslim. Immidiately I want to wear my hijab. I asked my friends to teach me about everything. I want to pray and all the time I was asking about Islam and the rulers of Islam. It was like I was a dry sponge who needed water, and I'm still have this feeling.
My friend teached me about all what a new muslim have to know. I stayed with them 3 months and it was a wonderful amazing time, an amazing family with lovely kids. In that year I went again to Jordan. And also the year after that 3 times.
In that time I was single and all the time alone in Holland. I did a lot dua the next few years and Allah accepted my prayers. He sent me a good moslimbrother from Turkey, Alhamdullilah. A year ago we married and I leaved Holland to share my life with my husband in Turkey.
Ofcourse my mom didnt like I leaved Holland. She is angry because I converted to Islam, she is angry because I went to Turkey, she is angry that I married a muslim. I explained her many times what is Islam, but till now she cant accept. You can understand that I feel sad about this and I do a lot dua for her and my son.
Every day I say, Alhamdullilah, thank You Allah, for all You gave me. For the good things and the bad things, because i learned a lot from this.
My story is not as short as I wanted. In real its more big, but I think I give you all an impression how I became to Islam.
May Allah give you all the best in your life and may Allah be pleased with all my brothers and sisters in Islam.
