The believers are only those who, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely. [Al-Anfal:2]

According to this ayyah three things to check within our hearts to find out we are believers or not because Allah Subhanaho watalah has said that the believers are "ONLY"those who have three characteristics:
1, when Allāh is mentioned, their hearts become fearful,
2,when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith
3,and upon their Lord they rely.
if we have these three qualities then we are believers in sight of Allah.

I would like to add that in the next verse, two more qualities of the believers have been revealed :
4. They pray five times a day with all of its adab..
5. They give zakat.

Well what the sister saima has mentioned are the general qualities of a believer.Now when upon hearing the name of Allah their hearts tremble surely on hearing Azaan they will go and offer prayer.You can also add many more qualities like hajj etc.So these are the general qualities in which all the other are contained.
