"During the French and Indian War, the British suspected American Indians of siding with the French. In an "act of good will," the British gave the Indians nice, warm blankets -straight from the beds of smallpox victims.

The resulting epidemic killed hundreds of Indians."

Mashallah, what a "Christian" deed.

"In the Americas, smallpox severely weakened the native population. They had never been exposed to smallpox, which the European explorers brought with them to the Americas in the 1600s. The British forces at Fort Pitt (later to become Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) purposefully gave smallpox-contaminated blankets and goods to Native Americans during the French and Indian Wars in an attempt to weaken the Native American resistance to colonial expansion. Due to this and through natural spread, the epidemic that followed killed half of the Native American population."

Assalaam walaikum,

What does this have to do with us? We know the evil deeds that have been committed. And will continue. We have better and bigger items to discuss. Let us be proactive.
There are millions of good Christians. Leave it alone.

Just take a look throughout history and you will see many horrible deeds perpetrated in the name of religion. People have always used religion as a tool to shape their own political or social agendas. It has always happened and will continue to happen until the end of time.

Wa'laykum Salam sister.
If you think that it has nothing to do with us, then I advise you to think again.

And this was a good thing? Please tell me that you were being sarcastic.

Please forgive my ignorance but would someone be kind enough to translate this? I'm not versed in whole sentences in Arabic.

Outside of the already stated fact "many horrible deeds perpetrated in the name of religion", how do you view these acts as being related to Islam? As a Native American, I'd be interested in your thoughts.

sister, Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raaji'un means to Allaah we belong and to him we shall return.

I too do not understand how this is related to Islam and how it could be "good" insha'Allah our brother would be kind enough to elaborate on what he means. In the meanwhile, we'll just wait for his reply.

Yes sister, I was being sarcastic. Even the title of the thread is ironic. I have used the derogatory term "Red" for a people for whom I have the utmost sympathy. Hence the last sentence whose translation you requested, "To Allah we belong and to Him is our return."
Regarding its importance to Islam, it would be better to say that such historical events have great importance to Islamic da'wah and Muslims ought to be more knowledgeable about history and events which have traumatized local people in order to be able to better spread their Deen. I hope that you now understand where I am coming from.

This did not happen in the name of religion but in the name of imperialism. However it is for others to take advantage of.:wasalam:

AHH! I understand now! Jazakallah Khair for clarifying it for me. You are absolutely correct when making the connection between local historical events and Da'wah....When you can have empathy for the people, it draws love into your heart for the human and that is silently transmitted as you speak. People pick up on that universal love, or, as you might call it, "Love for the sake of Allah" and respond to it. Empathy for the person does not mean approval of the person's actions of behavior...it means active unconditional love.

"christians" for sure, honestly the worlds largest terrorist organizations are goverments... And the events above are why many ignorant atheists want to get rid of religion :astag:

The use of chemical and biological weapons in war was prohibited in 1925 as a result of universal abhorrence at their effects on First World War soldiers. The 1972 Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their destruction (BWC), which entered into force in 1975, prohibited the development, production, stockpiling or acquisition of biological and toxin weapons and required the destruction or conversion of such weapons or delivery means. At time of writing, the BWC has 153 states parties. A further 16 have signed but not ratified, while 25 remain outside the treaty.
