Hello turn to Islam forum

Hello, I go by Caustic Logic but my name is Adam. This seems like a good place to I've dwelled much on religion and am pretty sure I won't be turning to Islam or any religion. Just to say it off the bat. I've come here mostly to comment on a particular issue (the Libya civil war), and a particular sub-issue within that. But while here, maybe I'll try to meet some people and learn a bit, explore a few things I've wondered about, or whatever. I'm pretty laid-back and welcome any friendly exchange.

The question promised by the little picture, and not an epic one: what are some good tips to get along well in this forum community?

Welcome to TTI the motto of this site is to clear misconceptions about Islaam so I am sure it could clear which you have. I hope you have a good time learning about Islaam and yes you submit to Allah on your own free will not under coercion

Really the only people that come here are those with the main intention of wanting to learn about Islam.

To be honest I'm more interested in learning from and about Muslims, than Islam itself. I'm already smarter than most unbelievers, with book smarts (the origins of Islam, the Sunni-Shiite schism, some of the precepts and rules, etc.,) if not people smarts (actually knowing any Muslims).

But there are things I still wonder about the faith I might ask when I have time. I do have some admiration for Islam in general, but some points of dislike as well, as with many non-Muslims on this modern world. I'll wait for any serious discussion on those levels until and if I get more of a feel for things here or have just read some previous discussions.

Sister Harb: I frequent discussion forums and try to be respectful. That does very from one community to the next, but I foresee no problems.

Abu Talib: Thanks. No misconceptions in mind at the moment. Just waiting to see if my comment elsewhere is approved. It - and I - might not have been the best fit.

Islam is a religion that is pure and free from error. Although there are muslims who deviate from what was authenticly taught to us by the last prophet, Muhammad, PBUH, the overwhelming majority adhere to valid schools of thought.

The Quran, is exactly as it was articulated by the lips of the prophet, PBUH, who received the revaluation from Jibril (Angel Gabriel) who was ordered by God to relay the information.

now besides lybia, is there anything you have in question about in particular?

Welcome to the forum and hope you benefit tremendously!

On a side note I thought it was funny how you had to say you weren't going to become Muslim right away and the whole "submit to Allah" thing.. I think a misconception from many non-Muslims is plainly that. That reminds me of this man who came to our dawah event at school who right away said I'm probably not gonna convert but I'll still read what you're passing out. Muslims are not out trying to convert every person we come across. It's about educating people about Islam and Muslims. Well just had to say to point that out. Hope you learn tons.

just to point out, I agree with sister Aisha, aint nobody trying to convert you...that is not a Muslim's job and certainly not the mission of TTI. We all are here to present the correct Islam to the masses. Whosoever accepts the truth accepted it by their own will, whosoever rejects it, rejected it by their own free will. So yea, if you're here to learn about us and our religion you're welcome.

tip 1: do onto other what you'd want to be done onto you...do not mock our religion or beliefs and we will be patient with you
Tip 2: All questions are welcome, so ask away but in a respectful manner.

Thanks again, people. I was not allowed to discuss the main things I came for, so I probably won't be around much, at least as I discuss these things (distortions and fakery among the given reasons to overthrow Gaddafi). But since I've started this ...

Aisha16, I have the habit from dealing with Christians around here. When they want to preach, I'm willing to listen but also let them know to save their breath. You'll do more to convert me just showing how you live in Christian skin rather than telling me the story again. I can only respect and maybe admire, not believe. Always had a hard time just choosing to believe something that doesn't make any sense to me.

On my reaction to the submit button, funny things reveal little bits of truth, even subconscious. I know you can't trick people into a religion with a simple button, of course. It was just a brief moment of partial alarm, not worth mentioning except that it was a little funny. I thought. Sorry if I seem to be too much of a smart aleck. No offense intended.

Here are some tips, lol.

1) Refrain from using internet lingo because most people here will not understand it. We have many members who's English is their 2nd language, and we also have..errm..older members who dont know internet slang (No offense to them, just an observation)

2) Always try to use the search feature before asking a question. If you ask a redundant question a Mod will post a link to it in your thread and lock it. (This has happened to me a lot, so now I use the search feature to the best of my ability)

3) Be courteous. We're not always going to see eye to eye but god willing we can co-exist. After all, Non Muslims ARE welcome here.

At the end of the day, even the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) isn't going to take any credit for the people he reverted, since the Islamic belief is that God guides and no one else.

Ofcourse you get your reward for Daw'ah (calling people to Islam/or Notifying people of it), but the belief is that the individual can't guide anyone, only God can.

'Verily! You (O, Muhammad) guide not whom you like, but Allah guides whom He will.' (Quran - 28.56)

In regards to that, God only guides people who are open minded and sincere. You won't find any "type" of people who haven't reverted, it just happens. So I don't think anyone is "trying to convert you", it's more just the duty that they give you Daw'ah, so you decided for yourself to learn more and gain a better understanding. The benefit at the end would be yours alone.

The son or daughter, born in the Muslim family who follows faith because their parents did are also in the wrong. In this case it would be the parents duty to give daw'ah to their children, why do we pray, why do we do this etc. As Islam encourages people to seek knowledge, rather than imitate what others believe or think.
