Salaam,

I am asking for any suggestions on how to keep focus during prayer? I can finally prayer without using a book for reference, but sometimes feel that since I am praying in arabic... I have a hard time focusing on what I'm really saying in translation and start thinking about other things. I have it memorized in english as well... but still find it hard to thinking about what I'm supposed to say in arabic and what it actually means.

Thank you so much!

think of prayer as a means of meditation and try to take a moment to relax before each prayer. forget the world's problems and focus on the "One".

i am new to salat and have a long way to go. i also find it difficult to keep focus but this method helps me a little. i would love to hear some tips as well, what a great question!

Wa Salam Alaikome...

You are so lucky that you have it memorized and are able to do it without the book. I am still using the book, a headset with the audio in my ear and sitting in a chair attempting to repeat after the audio!!!! I am not even able to perform the actual prostration and I feel that may be a long way off yet. I cant find a headset that will allow me to move that way!!!!

I havent had too much trouble concentrating on the words because my problem is trying to keep up while I am hearing them in my ear.:hijabi:

i would say that you should recite the surahs that you know or the dua that you know, constantly. whether you are going out for a walk, driving to work etc. you recite and practice so much, that it will be like nature for you. you already have learned the meanings, so the repitition will help you. insha'allah later on in journey, you will look back at how hard it once was for you and are now amazed at how today you are now a hafiz or a scholar of islam insha'allah

take your time, insha'allah it will all come to you.
:wasalam:
