As Salamu Alaykum,
Sister Hayat, I am a new revert to Islam who has not yet taken Shahadah. However, I had been a Christian Minister in the past and I was hoping that you could answer this question for me:
"Which of these can separate us from the love of Allah or invalidate his Qadar?
Tribulation such as struggles, trials or affliction including injury or disease?
Distress such as anguish, trouble or agony?
Persecution such as abuse, ridicule or harassment?
Famine causing no food perhaps from the loss of a job?
Nakedness such as having all earthly possessions taken away?
Peril which causes us to be exposed to the most severe risks?
Danger that includes being killed, or suffering martyrdom?
The trials of life are hard but even though Christianity has perverted such truth as tawhid found in Exodus 20:3; Deuteronomy 6:4; and Matthew 22:33-40; the concept of Qudar and Fitrah. I still can find comfort in many of the scriptures:
Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psa 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
As I increase my taqwa I know that la illaha illa 'llah, Muhammadun rasulu 'llah.
Al-Baqara
Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk. (286)
Al-Shuara
Who created me, and He doth guide me, (78) And Who feedeth me and watereth me. (79) And when I sicken, then He healeth me, (80) And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), (81) And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. (82) My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. (83) And give unto me a good report in later generations. (84) And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, (85)
Disease, Injury, and Heartache from loss oppress us; however, you know better than I that taking refuge in Allah comforts:
Al-Falaq
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak (1) From the evil of that which He created; (2) From the evil of the darkness when it is intense, (3) And from the evil of malignant witchcraft, (4) And from the evil of the envier when he envieth. (5)
An-Nas
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, (1) The King of mankind, (2) The God of mankind, (3) From the evil of the sneaking whisperer, (4) Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind, (5) Of the jinn and of mankind. (6)
My wife and I will pray for your well being.
Allahamdulillah.
