Assalaamu alaikum warahmatullah wabarakatuh brothers and sisters,

I hope and pray that ya'll are in the best of health/imaan.

It has been awhile since I posted new threads! but insha'Allah ima try to post new things as time goes on.
For now I'd like your thoughts on::

So, I am taking a world religions class this semester....(yea its REALLY interesting by the way) I enjoy it! alhamdulillaah.
But I kind of need your thoughts on something, I am supposed to do a presentation on Jesus. My first thought was to do Jesus in Islam, but my teacher wants me to do something about Jesus in Christianity. I chose to do Christianity as my project, so all the facts and the research I share must be under Christianity in which case the topic of "Jesus in Islam" will not work that well. So, my teacher's idea was for me to do research in early Christianity, the influence of Paul, and the debate of who Jesus REALLY was (according to early Christianity).
Has anyone done something like this? what would be your advice? thoughts?? should I just go with the early Christianity and the influence of Paul??

May Allaah reward you guys for your input! ameeen
Salaam :hearts:

I completely understand how do you feel dear sister because I also had a subject related for History of Great Britain, and this subject included the culture, development and religion of Great Britain, from the early Ages untill coming of Christianity. SubhanAllah, I even needed to learn about diffrent kind of saints, and thier interpretation of Christianity. I used to think all the time " Oh my Allah, what I need to learn" and when doing exam for this subject I needed to show it as that what I was learning it is really like that. On the begining I did not felt nice when learning about Christianity, because I took it maybe too much close to my heart Wallahi, but after I think deep about it, Alhmadulillah I understood and realise that it is only learning about other people culture and religion, and that it is importante and neccessery for my studies, although I did not agree with what I was learning.

You should try to do best you can dear sister and give your effort to do good this task for your school Inshallah.

May Allah help you and may you be successfull in this task, and everything that you do. :SMILY252:

Assalaam walaikum,

Your subject is very broad. Narrow it down. Why not do a paper on the concept of Jesus as seen in the New Testament according to Paul. He is the one who organized Christianity. His words are the powerful words that lead to worldwide evangelicalism. Except for the four books of the Gospel's much of the NT is the word of Paul. Thus, most Christians see Christianity through Paul, a former Jew, and not Jesus. Paul devised an organizational system and in the NT in the Acts and Letters we see the political system. Without Paul and the westward movement Christianity would not have survived.

Paul's influence was great; where did that leave the Disciples who were with Jesus. They were left by the wayside.

Just a suggestion. Keep your paper very positive. Do not make any comparisons to any other religion.

Assalaamu alaikum everyone,

just a little correction, its supposed to be a presentation, so I'll use power points and not paper. The teacher wants me to have "Christian background" and just tie Islam in there by mentioning little information. My presentation should be something that'd help a student on the test which is why she said no to my "Jesus in Islam" topic. Brother Ayman, Ima look in to those books insha'Allaah......and Sister Revert May Allah reward you for the links you have shared, hopefully I can use some of that information!!!
hhmm, Aapa, concept of Jesus in the NT sounds like a topic.....I will read the part of Christianity in my text book. This is not due until like a month later....just wanted to put things in perspective so I know what I am working with.
Any further ideas are welcome :)

AND ohh....JAZAKUMULLAH KHAIR EVERYONE:)

aww sister Asja.....I am not having any difficulties in learning about other faiths. In fact I find it amusing to learn new things about faiths like Hinduism and Buddhism which I was not exposed to much!! Insha'Allah I will def take this task and do well....its for school purposes and I know that aint nobody traying to make me "belief" something I dont wanna believe in:)
Ameen to your dua sweetie, I ask Allaah the same for you and all the Muslims.
And you're right, we have to be objective about education, learning something does not necessarly mean you want to believe in it:hearts:
Uhubuki fil'Allah Asja :hearts:

Look up Bart D. Ehrman and you're going to find plenty of relevant texts to help you out. You don't have to be a Muslim to know the truth about modern day Christianity and how those beliefs came about.

You don't have to talk about 'Jesus in Islaam' just talk about who he really was (which happens to correlate with what Islaam says too).

Try sticking to Christian sources sources for this.

Your project sounds really interesting!
