:salam2: dear brothers and sisters. the town i live in just bought a church few months ago and turned it into a masjid, however the government keeps coming down on us telling us to build this and that or else. now they've told us that the majid will be shut down completely if we don't get parkings. they said that even if we find a parking we have to have the permission of our neighbors to do it (which of course are non muslims). i need some ideas of how to help the masjid. fundraising and things like that so we will be able to afford the parking. And please don't freak out about us buying a church in order to turn it into a masjid. they were selling we bought it, and now it's the best masjid we had. we took off the cross and renamed it islamically. anyways asalamu alaykum. any ideas about how to help would be appreciated asap. salam.:girl3::girl3:

The only way to help is financially. The mosque commitee should start fundraising immediately

Salaam,

Please contact CAIR and find out about the local chapter near you. You need legal help. You should be able to get permits for parking. They are just being bullies. Contact the city or town manager and ask what permits need to filled out. Since you bought the building you know the codes are ok.
This is a first amendment issue, there is a group who maybe able to help: the center for constitutional rights...this is important work that you are doing. You are helping to set precedents for future Americans to be able to continue to worship as they choose. Insha'Allah it will not shut down.
The ACLU usually has chapters ask them.
Ask the town clerk how parking was handled when it was a church.

salam. guys i have no idea of what ur talking about. i don't even understand it, and those groups i only know one. i'm not able to go to them b/c i'm underage.

Salaam,

Ask your family, parents, other Muslims, adults to help you out. Since you are underage, how do you know about these issues? Who told you about them? Why did the people sell the church in the first place? They may have had the same issue.

Call CAIR. Ask the previous church members how parking was handled before.
Inshallah things will work out. If not, let me know.

:salam2: dear sister. it isn't hard to find out about these issues if you are a person who attends the mosque every saturday and sunday, and every other chance you get. My life is basically based on thinking of the muslims. money, ideas etc. are based on how i should help out on muslims. and being underage it isn't easy to demolish those problems. i feel heartache for not being able to do or say anything...and the adults don't take much responsibility. All i am able to do is probably asking other muslims to help start a fundraise and by writing. there is absolutely nothing else i can do.:girl3: today me and other girls were thinking of what to do, and after we figure out something we want to put it together. i'm starting by telling the adolescents at school, which frankly they dont care about deen that much, or in fact the mosque. the problem is that the muslims aren't much of help to each other. that's how the ummah has departed and inshaAllah i won't give up, i won't give up. but i hope that my dreams of helping my dear brothers and sisters everywhere will one day come true. i'm taking sewing class in order that i may cloth the poor, and i want to cook as well so as to feed them someday. inshaAllah. pls make dua. asalamu alaykum.:tti_sister:

Akhi HumbleWun is a brother.

Great intentions, MashAllah. Im humbled, alhamdulilah

My dear sweet sister Palestine,

It's sincere of you, at your age to have these concerns. Subhanallah. May Allah swt reward you and grant you Jannah. I'm sure you are not alone, the imam and probably others are aware of this.

You might want to ask those neighbors that complained, about where the previous church members use to park or if they have any suggestions. Inshallah things will work out. Every problem has a solution.

yes definatly if this it was church it had to have parking spaces of its own already...you have to get legal help these people are just being kufaar they will never change....you have to contact some solicter and get help and also you should be able to get parking permit without asking the neighbours...its your right....its totaly wrong that yu need to ask the neighbours you so dont sister.....

make sure you contact some muslim soliciters and inshallah get some help...

and offcourse the biggest help is from the ALLMIGHTY ALL WISE HIMSELF OUR LORD ALLAH SWT....keep praying and we will all pray 2 inshallah....

In our city as well there is a church that was turned into a masjid and also has no parking. The thing is that church was really old so probably they never thought to make parking..why would they since cars didn't exist?! So the muslims just park on the street. One store owner used to let the muslims park in his large parking lot but when the owners changed they couldn't anymore so they just parked on other streets. Now they have built a new mosque in another location with lots of parking but that little masjid is still there too with its street parking. So I agree with the others..if the Christians were allowed to have no parking lot then the muslims should have the same right! Contact a gov't or city official about this..even a young person can do this..don't be afraid to start your activism early. Plenty of youth in the time of the Prophet (saw) were involved in every facet. Allah will help you in this..He wants you to stand up for it for sure. I love your ideas masha Allah to help the poor ; May Allah help you in your endeavours. Always stay close to the masjid and help out. The ummah needs more people like you.

Salaam,

Please forgive me for not explaning things to you. These are adult and legal issues. Permits and codes are legal issues regarding the safety of a building and the ability to hold people in a building.
When the building was sold to the masjid there were papers involved with the legalize. The treasurer of the masjid would have knowledge or a lawyer.
However, you need to speak to a legal aged adult...I know...but we have to pay attention to legal issues...they need to contact the city for its ordiances ( basic laws etc ).
Suggest the fundraising but find out how the youth can help..you must have a better sense of the issue.
You are a worthy person to take on this issue. I am very proud of you.
