Question about Wudoo From a Germaphobic Person...

How do you wash your feet during wudoo?

  • Sometimes I don't wash my feet at all, because of work situations, etc.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Here's a question from a germaphobic person looking into Islam...

* When a person performs Wudoo, the feet are washed. Does this "have" to be with the hands, or could I put a tub of water under my feet and submerge them? If the first case is correct, is it permissible to wash my feet, then wash my hands, without breaking the ritual of wudoo, or making my Salat invalid?

I know it sounds silly, but it's one of the things that keeps me from embracing Islam...

Thank you for your input!!!

Is there a poll option for ... turning on the tap in the bathtub, and washing with hands while feet is under the running water? That's how I usually do it.

Salam alaikum.

You should clean your feet with your hands, but when you are done wudoo, there is nothing wrong with washing your hands again with soap and water if you should so choose.

^^^ Me too, except in the sink

The same way the brothers do it; with my hands...

Islam sure promotes health, this is why we usually do wudo 5 times a day ;)

As one of the brothers pointed out, why not wash the hands with soap after wudu is complete :)

You should probably do it with your hands since you should clean between your toes.

If the poll really matters...I let the tap run and use my hands, unless I have socks on at the mosque. In which case I just run a wet hand over the top of my socks.

i'm sorry but i just wanted to know what is wrong with touching your feet with your hands? i'm sorry i just noticed you're germaphobic..... well inshAllah if you irrational fear of germs and that's what's stopping from using your hands, then InshAllah Allah is most forgiving and Allah knows your intentions. just try your best to follow the religion to its roots and Allah does not burden any soul more than they can handle. so pray to god to relieve you from the extreme fear of germs. if i'm not wrong you can always step into a tub and run the water on your feet and make sure it goes between your toes. Allah knows best.

If you're a germaphobe then it might ease your fears to know that (depending on if you wear shoes or not) the feet are the cleanest part on a persons body. (Unless that's just rumor?)

Anyway, like someone already said - you can wash your hands with soap and water immediately after if you like.

Dear sister theres no harm if you wash your hands after washing your feet with them. And its not breaking any ritual wash them as much as you like afterwards and it will not make your salaah invalid at all. Islam is a religion of ease and peace
