wht kind of wedding songs? if they were free from romantic lyrics, music..it was ok.

Dr. Salim Ahmad Salamh, Dean of the Faculty of Usulud-Deen at the Islamic University, Gaza: “It is permissible for women, as far as Islam is concerned, to dance and sing so long as there are no males around. In addition, the words of the song should be free from any foul words or vulgarity.”

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid: There is nothing wrong with women singing amongst themselves, accompanied by the daff, so long as the songs contain no words that encourage evil or distract people from their duties

^^ Ugh.. thats why I hate wedding ceremonies altogether, especially our (oh gosh as much as I hate to say this word) cultural way of doing it, after the Nikkah the ceremony is good, Alhamdulillah, but the camera man and his weird techniques. You end up with a 500 page album full of close up shots of you posing in different ways, and the bride seems to have the same grumpy face not making eye contact with the camera. Its like whuh? Now thats the part I just hate. I dont like the some of the rest either.. all the music and dance and all. I mean you can make everything *shandaar* (lol) like all the decorations and theme and hall and food and clothes and what not.. just not loud with chair trembling music.

Yes, romantic songs do their own magic.. fantasy world alert!

salamu Alaikum:)
So, as far as the songs go...no romance and stuff, subhanaAllah this is new to me. I always thought if it's ONLY sisters, we could just do that....now I understand better. I am not actually a wedding person, but those of ONLY sisters area actually kinda fun....I dont know (culturally)if this will EVER stop, I am pretty sure I aint the only who "thought" Music and singing was ok as long as there are NON-mehrams around. May Allah guide us all, and keep us on the path of the rightious ! may Allah forgive us of the sins we made knowingly and unknowingly, may Allah protect us from the evil whispers of SHAITAN!ameen, ameen, ameen
jazakaAllah khairan brother Ahmed for the Fatwas. may Allah reward you with jannah and give you all that you ask of Him, make your journey of life that which pleases Him. ameen, ameen, ameen

If we listen to Al-Qur `an, Hadith the Prophet and information 'Salaf and the' Ahlus Sunnah scholars who followed their trail well we shall find that the singing and music is haraam. Among theses are:

1. Allah the Exalted says:

ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث ليضل عن سبيل الله بغير علم ويتخذها هزوا

"And among men (there are) people who use" words that are not useful "to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge and make it God's way derision." (Luqmaan: 6)

Most commentators state that is meant by "words that are not useful" is a song. Ibn Mas'ud said: "It is the song. By Allah, there is no God who is entitled to the worship none but Him. "He repeated it three times.
And said Al-Hasan Al-Bashriy: "This verse falls associated with singing and musical instruments." (See Tafsiir Ibni Katsiir 6 / 145 cet. Maktaba Ash-Shafaa)

2. The Messenger of Allaah 'alaihi wa sallam said:

ليكونن من أمتي أقوام يستحلون الحر والحرير والخمر والمعازف

"Really, really going to have from my ummah people-people who justify adultery, silk, wine (liquor) and ma'aazif." Ma'aazif is music. (Narrated by al-Bukhariy and Abu Dawud)

The meaning of this hadeeth is that it will come from among the Muslims, people who believe that adultery, wearing pure silk, drink wine (ie all that intoxicating) and the music is permissible, but all it is haraam.
While ma'aazif are all instruments that have a tone and a regular voice like a lute, guitar, piano, flute, drums, drum, tambourine and others. Even the bell ma'aazif even including, according to the words of the Messenger of Allaah 'alaihi wa sallam:

الجرس مزامير الشيطان

"Bell is the flute Shaitan." (Narrated by Muslim)

This hadith shows that the bells are hated because of his voice and the people first placed it animal necks. Indeed this bell similar to the An-Naaquus (sort of gong or a gong) used Nashara people. And the use of bells in the home, schools and other than can be replaced with a bul-bul (of birds) is a device sold in the markets.

3. Have been reported from Al-Imam Ash-Shafi'i in al-Qadhaa `:" Singing is a game (vanity) that resembles the hated errors. Anyone who reproduce so he is a fool who rejected witness. "The definition of hate in here is prohibited and unlawful shari'ah.

It's mean that music without instruments is halal (allowed)
