Qurbani during Hajj

Asalaamu alaikum ...

Just a simple curiosity question here... when the pilgrims on Hajj do their sacrifices, what happens to the meat? Most of the pilgrims are from outside KSA so they would have to transport it home...right? And the part that is for charity, does it go to benefit the residents of Mecca/KSA only?

I know its just academic but I'm curious... :)

I am not sure but I hope Hajj Committee of KSA works with different charities (preferably from various parts of the world) who can send the meat to the most needy everywhere. Charities like Islamic relief and Muslim Hands.

It's good to bring up and discuss such topics, akhi. :) Jazak Allah.
