Somalia's Al Shabaab seize central town

MOGADISHU: The religious group al Shabaab has taken control of a central Somali trading town after fighting that killed at least 13 people and wounded dozens of others, residents said on Saturday.

The capture of Gurael, 370 km (230 miles) north of the capital Mogadishu, adds to the growing hold al Shabaab has gained across south and central Somalia in a two-year insurgency against the government and its Ethiopian military allies.

Locals said al Shabaab, which means youth in Arabic, took Gurael after three days of fighting with a government-allied group in the area.

i know the western nations hate the fact that somalia may soon be an islamic state. but if the people of somalia want a muslim state that's what they want. i have been watching a lot on the situation over there in somalia; and it seems that the US is afraid of an islamic state over there. even though i am an american, i think that this country is afraid that rest of the muslim world will follow suit and begin to truly live an islamic khilafah.
