The role of the wife in Islaam

So if a man comes home from work tired,he has to cook for himself,clean his clothes then clean the house?


And what will the woman do all day?Watch tv,go out shopping?What if the man can't afford a servant?

Brother, is this how you understand the article?

The scholars are divided but majority are sayings women doing household chores is praiseworthy not obligatory. Allah knows best. If you remember Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) the daughter of Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) and mother of all believers did asked for a maid servant but the Prophet did not provide. On the other hand, do you remember the Prophet used to help his wives in cooking, cleaning, sewing etc? At least, as husband we should be doing the same to ease their burden.

The girls who start playing that game learn real quickly how unhappy marriage can be. Men do say if they are providing everything for her and she can't even take care of the house then what does he need her for. Marriage is about compromise, and sharing of duties. There is no my duty vs your duty, that is a loosing game where no one will win, especially your marriage.

I agree, but women not performing her duty at home is a different issue.

If you refer Qur'an, Chapter 4 Verse no. 34,

"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women.." (Yusuf Ali and Muhsin Khan Translation)

"Men are in charge of women,.." (Pickthall Translation)

I've checked several other translation, none of them sayings "Men are kings and rulers of women"... this indicate we are just a leader in the family not rulers.

The Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) helped in the household chores, He had many wives yet He did not let them do things alone. Let's think about it.

to alls,I have 4 children,one of them need to be breastfed,I take care of them,polish the house,prepare the meal of the children when my husband is out for work,pray,watch telenews,then when my husband comes at home,he always find something cooked to eat and cleansed clothes to wear.I have to work hardly everyday,but this is my choice and not my duty,because as I can deduce,nobody can force me to do something if I don't want to do it.in this case,we are fortunate to be complete with each other.my husband works 10 hours per day to bring us what we need to carry on...my work at home is the minimum that I can do to make him satisfied to go out,when he may prefere to stay at home
