The Angel of Death may be Assigned to You this year!

It is narrated that ‘Uthmân b. Áffân – Allâh be pleased with him – said in a sermon:

Son of Adam! Know that the angel of death who has been assigned to you has not ceased to pass you and move on to others, ever since you have been in this world. But it is as if he is about to pass someone else and move on to target you, so be careful and prepare for him (by correcting your deeds). And do not forget him, for he does not forget you. And know o son of Adam, if you are heedless about yourself and do not prepare, no one else will prepare for you. You must meet Allah the Mighty and Majestic, so take for yourself and do not leave it to someone else. Peace be on you.Abû Bakr Al-Daynûrî, Al-Mujâlasah wa Jawâhir Al-Ílm 2: 73, 74.

So this year could be our very last so there is NO time to delay but prepare NOW as tomorrow may never come!

Life is a gift from Allah, to do good, to make a beneficial difference. A believer prepares as he might live very long, but thinks that he might not see the tomorrow. Beshir, say a pleasing word not a depressing one. It is not for a believer to depress others heart even when he means warning to save oneself. Faith is advice, and the worst way of advising is the depressive thoughts. Spread faith and good advice with soothing words, that is best for ones soul. I did not like your title of thread, and even the hadith went unread. Give a thought or two, why...

Assalamu'alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

Sister Sabina, a reminder of death is needed for each and everyone of us, not to scare people away but to remind them that death is inevitable, that death can come to you in any second so that we will always reflect on our shortcomings and seek forgiveness from Allaah subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

However in worldly affairs, we are still encourage to strive to be among the best, to strive to get married, get a good job as these tools, these means will lead you to The End: Allaah subhanahu wa Ta'ala.

If I may add a little to this thread, bi ithnillah:

"O you who have believed, fear Allah . And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear Allah . Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do. (18)

And be not like those who forgot Allah , so He made them forget themselves. Those are the defiantly disobedient. (19)"

[Al-Hashr, 59]

In verse 18, notice how Allaah mentioned: "Let every soul look to what it has put forth for Tomorrow". In this case, Tomorrow is the capital T; that is for Our Akhiraah.

Allaah said to have taqwa in Allaah, prepare for Our Akhiraah and then He subhanahu wa Ta'ala mentioned again to have taqwa in Him.

From Tafseer Ibnu Katheer:
The Command to have Taqwa and to prepare for the Day of Resurrection

Imam Ahmad recorded that Al-Mundhir bin Jarir narrated that his father said, "While we were in the company of the Messenger of Allah in the early hours of the morning, some people came there who were barefooted, naked, wearing striped woolen clothes, or cloaks, with their swords hung (around their necks). Most of them, nay, all of them, belonged to the tribe of Mudar. The color of the face of the Messenger of Allah underwent a change when he saw them in poverty. He then entered (his house) and came out and commanded Bilal to pronounce Adhan. Bilal pronounced Adhan and Iqamah, and the Prophet led the prayer. He then addressed them, first reciting,

(O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord, Who created you from a single person... ) (4:1), until the end of the Ayah. Then he recited the Ayah that is in Surat Al-Hashr:

﴿وَلْتَنظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ﴾

(and let every person look to what he has sent forth for tomorrow,'') He then said, "A man donated his Dinar, his Dirham, from his clothes, from his Sa` of wheat, from his Sa` of dates'' -- until he said -- "even if it was half a date.'' Then a person among the Ansar came there with a moneybag, which his hands could scarcely lift; in fact, his hands could not lift it. Then the people followed continuously, until I saw two heaps of eatables and clothes. I saw the face of the Messenger radiate with pleasure, like gold. The Messenger of Allah said,

(He who sets a good example in Islam, there is a reward for him for this (act of goodness) and reward of that also who acted according to it subsequently, without any deduction from their rewards. Whoever sets in Islam an evil example, there is upon him the burden of that evil and the burden of him also who acted upon it subsequently, without any deduction from their burden.)'' Muslim recorded this Hadith via the chain of Shu`bah. Therefore, Allah's statement,

(O you who believe! Have Taqwa of Allah), ordains the Taqwa of Allah which pertains to obeying what He ordered and staying away from what He forbade. Allah said,

(and let every person look to what he has sent forth for tomorrow,) meaning, hold yourselves accountable before you are recompensed, and contemplate what you have kept for yourselves of good deeds for the Day of your return and being paraded before your Lord,

(Have Taqwa of Allah), again ordering Taqwa,

(Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.) Allah asserts that surely, He knows all of your deeds -- O mankind -- and actions. Nothing that pertains to you ever escapes His observation, nor any matter of yours, whether major or minor, is ever beyond His knowledge,

(And be not like those who forgot Allah, and He caused them to forget themselves.) meaning, do not forget the remembrance of Allah, the Exalted, otherwise, He will make you forget to perform the good deeds that benefit you in your return, because the recompense is equated with the action. This is why Allah the Exalted said,

(Those are the rebellious.) referring to those who rebel against obedience to Allah, who will earn destruction on the Day of Resurrection and failure upon their return,

(O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers.)(63:9)

I don't get it. Enjoyed what?

Nor did I..............?

Death is as close to us all as our own blood and is a natural part of Life.

Personally, I wouldn't bring another Child into this world Man has made for himself under any condition or for any reason. When Brothers tell me they have a Child on the way, I feel depressed for the Child but don't say so.
At times these days, I sort of wish Allah hadn't Blessed me with them to do little more than worry about. Especially in America where the Shatan dances freely as he wills. Bringing a Child into this U.S. mess is just about a condemnation that they will be misguided rather than guided. Here, everything is against the Child from birth. TV shows everything up-front and brutally and SEX sells everything. The impact TV has on youth is detrimental to their next life and there's oh so little a parent can do against such a strong force and I should know this first hand. Jewish owned Media CORRUPTS and for Corporate Gain at the price of ones Soul.
Little wonder the Christian Theology has all your sins pre-forgiven even before they're done. So, go ahead and sin, Jesus / Isa died so your sins are forgiven. That's an easy sell to many b/c it takes no actions or deeds, just accept that he "died" for your sins.......
Like God really had to have a Son as a prerequisite for forgiveness. What sort of Morons believe such a preposterous thing........ Oh, Yea, Americans do.... It's like another earns a Medal and b/c he did it, you get one, too.
Sorry for the Downer........... :SMILY309:

Asalaamu alaikum. Sister to remember death often was the advice given to us by the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) when he said, "Remember more often the destroyer of pleasures - death.''[At-Tirmidhi].

Then did you not like the Prophets advice? Was it depressing to be reminded of the fact that we can die at any second? Remembering death brings us back to reality. So is it reality that you are not comfortable with?

Increase in the remembrance of death

There is no doubt that death ends the delights and pleasure of this life, as the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu 'alayhi wa-salaam) has told us:

"Increase in your remembrance of the destroyer of pleasures (ie. death). For verily, one who remembers it when enduring the hardships of like, it widens for him (ie. he no longer feels overburdened with the hardships he is experiencing). Whenever one remembers it at times of opulence (wealth, abundance), it will cause him to feel restricted and burdened (ie. he will not then be too involved with this life and will start to reflect on the serious and heavy matters awaiting him)". (an-Nasaa`ee, at-Tirmidi, Ibn Majaah and others)

The pleasures are what prevent a tear to be shed, nor any sadness and grief to be felt by the heart. So increase in your remembrance of death, in an attempt to feel the terrors and horrors that will follow it, out of fear of Allaah. Indeed this is easy for the one whom Allaah wishes to make it easy for.
