Tidings of Comfort and Joy

Assalaam walaikum,

In the US Thanksgiving is on the morrow. For me it is the luxury of being able to spend time with family.

Insha'Allah, everyone have a blessed day. And many of you can say Alhumdullila she will not post tomorrow.

Not to worry it gives me time to troll through the news and get all riled up.

Oh my sister, you know better...you are setting yourself up to no end of "Muslims shouldn't celebrate..." lectures, you know how our brothers and sisters on TTI get! May Allah bless them!

Inshallah you have a great day tomorrow & enjoy your time with your family. Mine are too far away and snowed in last I heard.

:salam2:It is great to celebrate a day with family when one has the chance to do so once in a while. There is nothing objectionable about it except from some of them spoiled brats who d fail to see the emphasis here, and who can not appreciate that it might be joyful for somebody.Have a nice day with your family Appa .:)

One Objection still Dear Appa,How can you like a game that no one unless they are from your island understands?I mean the whole outside world doesn t ! Am teasing i know:biggrin:I can t believe you guys actually call Football Soccer!I always laugh when i watch that it reminds my childhood zoo excursions. It s iike some Elephants running back and forth in all directions and fighting over a ball ... Have a fantastic day!

Assalaam walaikum,

Son.... my little happy world outside of trying to yell the truth is watching a little game. Now..why the rest of the world does not understand it is beyond me. It is organized. It has set rules. You do not run up and down the field for ten years and somehow stand in front of the goal and kick the ball.
I am ashamed of myself.

I did stop watching for a long time. I treat myself to Michael Vick and the Eagles.

I gave up on marriage and decided football is a lot easier on my health than a husband could be. I can always turn the television off.

:salam2:please do not be too harsh on yourself.I know what you mean,But Allah swt never wanted us to grief constantly. You are doing what you can.Your objection of conscience is there Alhamdulillah! It could be a good opportunity for you to give us some names about who owns the N.F.l.Helplessness makes us creative. I read some article about it around 6 months ago, its crazy ...team after team ...really.Farrakhan got some names as well..A lot of them you bet....But for now Chillax as you say.Stop stressing yourself this way, Allah knows don t worry.

Happy Thanksgiving!

My family celebrates it too, but my husband and I dont. I'm not comfortable with the history.

There are a lot of holidays that Muslims should not celebrate. Be happy they tell you not to, it means they love you as their brother in Islam and only want you to stay on the Straight Path.
