Assalaam walaikum,

Brother,

During the last election I was posting about Ron Paul. There should be several posts about him.

Salam alikom,

I think that he's the best candidate for us Muslims to vote for, compared with the other selfish corporate muppets.

I'm not American btw

He is very quickly earning my vote, I will vote for him if he makes it to the Presidential election.

Don't vote. It's not Egypt where a party wants islamic law. Dont let a person earn your vote.

Democracy = Shirk.

then you would be indirectly supporting the other candidates who want to wipe out Muslims, support israel, spread fitna across our lands etc.

Your logic is salafi inspired, those people claim everything is haram and bid'aa (innovation) - they're a bit obsessed.

No no no. I hate him, and I cannot understand why any Muslim would want to vote for him. I think I would crawl over glass before I would support him. I'm probably not going to vote in this election anyway. Your votes don't really matter and everyone is the same.

Assalaam walaikum,

He is a conservative Republican. He has one thing that the others are lacking: Brains.
He is a good guy. Can he make a change..No..the system is broke.

Were I to vote..that is the man that would get my vote..I wrote several threads about him on TTI for the last election...

He was entertaining on the Tonight Show.

I didn't mind him in the last election and I also considered voting for him then. But he's gotten a lot scarier and a lot crazier since then. Or maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention before.

Assalaam walaikum,

No..sister...the world has gotten a lot scarier...

There is no way a single being can tackle all the issues of this country. I appreciate his understanding of the Constitution and state rights.

I am not voting. I am trying to survive.

Of course he's lying. He's a politician.

From my limited understanding of his platform and history (tbh I have no really paid attention to the campaigns thus far), he wants to repeal Roe v. Wade, affirmative action, federal minimum wage, OSHA, supports off shore drilling, co-sponsored the Marriage Protection Act, and introduced the Family Protection Act. I also think he's racist and disagree with his views on state's rights and taxation.

So, if you're pro-life, or okay with racism, or against the working class and poor, or against homosexuality and gay marriage, or don't mind schools being segregated again, then yeah, you'd like him.

But I don't.

And I really wish Muslims would stop saying they like him because he's not a Zionist. But that's not true! His reasons for withdrawing aid from Israel is because he thinks all aid everywhere should be withdrawn, and that withdrawing it will "strengthen" Israel and their sense of autonomy. NOT because he actually cares about Palestine. So if you support him, that's your business. But just know what you're supporting. I actually don't mind his foreign policy. It's his domestic policy that I think is terrifying and destructive.

Assalaam walaikum,

Sister,

He is a Libertarian. They do not believe in federal mandates and feel it is an individual decisions. Now, Dr. Paul is always a medical doctor. He has delivered over 4,000 babies. He could not be pro-choice. He has no choice.

I am in the firm belief that homosexuality is a sin. Thus, gay marriage is a sin. I am a firm advocate of single sexed schools. As for racism; Sister, the KKK is very alive. They just have different acronyms.

However, I am not a Republican, nor a Democrat, not even a Libertarian. I am simply a Muslim.

I'm not going to debate pro-life v. pro-choice, but his being an obstetrician is irrelevant as there are obstetricians who are pro-choice (those who perform abortions are usually obstetricians...).

And segregating schools based on sex is very different from segregating them based on race.

I think it's a little funny that he's so opposed to having a large federal government lest they impose upon state's rights, yet he's all for imposing his religious and personal beliefs on the individual. He doesn't really believe in the separation of church and state which is also very scary...
