I dont want to judge anyone ,but I think may be its better to ask where the sisters in Jilbab and proper Hijab ,as Jilbab is mentioned in the Quran and not salwar kameez ...
I havent peronally seen any plain proper covering shalwar kameez .All of them are very bright and attract attention ,and we all know that Hijab should be opposite of that ...

.
I agree ,thats why its better to wear it for women occasions only or in front of a husband only ...

waaleikum salam

Saalam,

You can wear salwar kamiz and still maintain proper Hijab, but you're right about having bright colors and intricate design.

Not sure who said, Salwar Kamiz is hindu clothing, but this is 100% false. Salwar Kamiz is worn by Hindu, Muslims, Buddist, and even tribal communities of the Sub Continent.

I think Salwar Kamiz is more modest compare to Jeans, Saris, etc...

Salamalykum sister

Its sad to find you coming so hard on this issue of women having given up wearing KAMEES SALWAR..I have already explained to sister Aisha about itz NOT being a Hindu dress..You have misrepresented the dress and its essence!

All i wanted to know from u is why u have thrown away your all kamees salwars?(if u dont mind to tell me)

when i convert,i want to be looked like a muslim woman.and all my salwar khameez are very glittering and it is not for muslim woman.if ur saying men wear it too, than perhaps it is ok for me coz it is susullay plain and simple for men.but women's is very atractive and usually these woman do not even cover their hair propely.they just rap the scarf over their head.still hair is visible......even hindu women wear scarf...so there is no diffirence...
the real veil is like how the solehah arab women wear...islam came to india, pakistan, banglades and malaysia itself mnay years ago just within 100 years and u hv been wearing this salwar khameez even before islam.
but islam came to arab countries 1000 years ago and they have been following the real cloths and real veil mentioned in quran.
i know there are many pakistanis and indians on tti.yet..why do u wanna differentiate urself according to ur country and culture?????
whay cant u speak up for all muslim women...asking them

Sister,Assalamualykum wrwb

Unfortunately,You havent read my post properly.I have explicitily mentioned that IN THE FIRST PLACE,A WOMAN(MUSLIMAH)without an Abaya/Jilbab,is not adhering to the Islamic Dress code!!Wearing a Kamees Salwar/Jeans beneath that is a secondary thing..How come one would get to know what kind of a kamees salwar one is wearing if it remains conspicous under an Abaya??

One more thing;NOT ALL THE KAMEES SALWAR ARE GAUDY AS PROJECTED BY YOU..Itz a matter of choice/taste..

Instread of drawing a comparison line between KAMEES SALWAR/WEARING JEANS AND TOPS,lets emphasise the need of wearing Abayas...

i think my post was little confusing. to be clear:

1. i know that women have to cover their whole body outside (except face and hands, if needed), so abaya/jilbab are best.

2. i mean that salwar-kameez (simple ones) are better to wear than tops and jeans in front of mahram men as former are loose.

PS: its not good in these times of fitnah to wear such tight clothes (like a body paint) in front of their young brothers, uncles, etc.
