    Assalam Alaikum: Dear Tariq.

Islam is a religion that is applied every day. Among Christians, it is just on Sunday.

I will amend the quote from my side. " Islam is the Deen (religion appears an artificial word) that is applied in every act"

    Why I became Muslim

    Bislmallah
    Assalamu alaikum
Well it is quite simple really TAWHEED. But to give the background on this here is a short exert from "my story"...
I was raised in a southern baptist home that wasnt particularly religious, at around 16 I began wondering "searching" so to speak for inner peace. I thought that would come through truely getting involved in the church so I began going to every class they had joing everything I could at my age choir rights of passage ect. As I studied the bible memorizing different passages the names of the books and so on, but the more I read the more the one problem I always had with christianity began to dig deeper in my mind how can any sound reasoning person believe in the trinity (no offense to christians but thats literally what I was thinking as a christian). So about a month and a half after my 18th birthday a friend that had not to long taken shahadah asked me what I knew about Islam upon hearing me say "nothing" he figured the best place to start was the fact that it teaches GOD is one upon hearing that I knew this is it I need to be muslims. Alhamdulillah 14 years later I still beleive I need to be muslim.

i am Muslim by birth Alhamdulillah, and one thing i would like to share is that,, why people are converting to ISlam, a BIG reason where no other religion do have that,, WE know every reality do have some facts, and do have attractions, when every some body face it,,, Islam is the only religion, which do have those facts and attractions,, whenever some body is reading Quran, and explore Islam, it effect on one heart, and attract him/her, because its a true religion...

alhamdulilah (praise to allah)! i am so happy to hear you say that and it brings joy to my heart. Im very glad that you realized the truth in islam. i advise you to not believe what the media says about islam but rather do some research yourself and see what its truly about. it is such a beautiful and peaceful way of life. it so complete and truly brings you closer to god. there is no confusion and no obligation to follow something that makes no sense, Ex: the dogma in christianity concerning the trinity. All you need to know is that there is no god but allah (arabic for god) and muhammad is last and final messanger. Inshallah (if god wills) if you sincerely believe that, everything else will fall into place. I pray for you to find peace and tranquility in islam. i pray that allah guides you to islam, the key to paradise.

Well my story is a bit long to post it all here, but the short version is that I eventually got tired of my life and sick of who I had become. I knew that some things had to change if I was ever to break out of my cycle of boredom and misery.

I started going back to Christian churches since that is what I was raised as, and I was reading the Bible almost every day. I did not really feel like I was getting anything out of it, so I started praying to God that He would show me the true path.

I had a copy of the Qu'ran that I had picked up a little while ago, but I had never really read it. So one day I started reading through it and was amazed by what I read. So much of it made sense to me. I began to study Islam in more detail and continued to be surprised by what I found. I have always had doctrinal issues with Christianity, and I really did not find those with Islam (just a few minor issues not worth mentioning here).

The more I learned about Islam, the more I wanted to learn, and that scared me a little. This went against everything I had ever been taught and I did not like that at first. I prayed to God and asked Him to show me a sign if this was indeed the right way.

Every day I felt led toward Islam more and more, and I started going to a local masjid to meet some brothers and have some lingering doubts addressed. After a week or two of this, I decided to take the shahada and make it official.

That was a week ago, and I still do not regret that decision. I feel more at peace than I ever have at any time in my life. I know it will not be an easy road ahead. There is a lot I still have to learn about Islam. I still have to deal with family and friends who do not have a good opinion of Muslims or Islam.

I pray every day that Allah will allow me to become a better man, and that through my actions, I can show them that Islam is the way. I pray that Allah will open their hearts and minds to allow them to accept my decision, or at least respect it. It might take months, or even years, but this is the path I have chosen, and I must walk it alone for as long Allah wills that I should.

Well, I guess that came out longer than I wanted it to. Sorry for the wall of text...

TL;DR - Former Christian unhappy with himself and his life started praying and studying Islam and eventually felt led to take shahada. Still hasn't told friends or family about his conversion.

I reverted and became a muslim because Allah guided me and gave me the courage to do what I knew was right.

I was raised and educated as a Catholic in England, but within an Irish heavy community so there was a kind of indifference and for want of a better vocabulary people I grew up with said "being a muslim is for the Paki's". By the time I was leaving school I openly rebelled against my Catholic education after being asked to write a gcse essay about my religion (of the time) and being told I was wrong because I questioned why praying to a cross and a man was right when it was forbidden in the Bible.

After the War of/on Terror started I became interested in this religion I heard so much bad stuff about and you can imagine my surprise when I learnt Allah was not a made up lump of rock worshipped by heathens. I developed a new found admiration for the religion many of my childhood friends followed but had always been shy to mention. in 2006 I first read the Quran, given to me when drunk by a taxi driver who was impressed that I had told a friend to watch his mouth when making thoughtless remarks about his beard and faith at 3am on a Saturday morning. I read it quickly and felt a compulsion to defend what I saw as my brothers and sisters (at the time I simply described myself as a Christian who believed Jesus to be the Messiah, not the son of God). After years of incorporating several practices of Islam into my life such as no pork, no alcohol, respect for my fellow man and more frequent prayers I finally was blessed with the courage on 13th February 2011 to recite the Shahadah in Arabic while sat alone in my living room and knew it was true.
