Are you not aware that trials come from Allaah as a test. So these calamities are tests. But from your post I can only conclude that you aren't succeeding these trials.
Question yourself, ask yourself... Are you firm in Islamic aqeedah or not? Do you really understand the shahadah or not? These matters are a core to our lives.

Alhamdulillaah, if I ask for something, I either get or i don't, but we have to be patient. We may dislike something but in reality it is better for us. For example I asked for Allaah to make my trip to `umrah easy, I had no passport and had no time to get my tickets, by alhamdulillaah Allaah allowed for me to get them both within the same morning, and everything there onwards of my `umrah was equally easy.

Yet whilst in the haram I asked for Allaah to admit me to one of the islamic universities, but they were closed so I couldnt apply, and my referees were also unavailable to submit some paperwork for me. Although I didn't get what I asked from Allaah, I'm not going to strop and complain and have evil thoughts about Allaah, rather Allahs is the best of planners and there was good in me not getting my request (which was ultimately to learn the deen, and please my Lord). The good you may be wandering is that I'm already in a good university with only 9months left, very few women on my course so little temptation. And the completion of my degree will only aid me in achieving what I asked for, so by adorning myself with patience in this, I'll be far better off than before. Hope you understand this case.

Asalaamu aleikum sister,

Please do not underestimate the importance of enduring trials with patience. Allah will complete his blessings and rewards only on the patient. I know it can sometimes be difficult, but try always to focus on the things you have already been blessed with and develop greater gratitude toward Allah.

Keep your head up. Hold fast to Allah. Best wishes to you.

Asalaamu'Alykum,

Sister, stay strong. Please read this, it is very beneficial. This is the 3rd time i have used it:

Allah the Exalted says:

"O you who believe! Endure and be more patience..... [3:200]

"And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sâbirun (the patient)" [2:155]

"Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning." [39:10]

"And verily, whosoever shows patience and forgives that would truly be from the things recommended by Allâh." [42:43]

"O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salât (the prayer). Truly! Allâh is with As-Sâbirun (the patient.)" [2:153]

The start of Surah Al-Ankaboot, Allahu Akbar:

"Alif Lam Meem,

Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested.

And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allâh will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allâh knows all that before putting them to test)"

Hadiths:

Aby Yahya Suhaib bin Sinan (Radiyallahu Anh) reported that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

"How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If properity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah (S.W.T) and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him". [Muslim]

Commentary: A Muslim is required to behave in porvery and prosperity, affluence and hardship, in the manner stated in this Hadith. It means that to forget Allah in prosperity, rather than being thankful to Him for His Favour is defiance of His Orders. Similarly, it is unbecoming of a Muslim that in troubles and turmoil, rather being patient, he tends to weeping and crying, grousing and grieving against the Will of Allah.

Abu Sa'id and Abu Hurairah (Radiyallahu Anhuma) reported that the Prophet (S.A.W) said, "Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, an illness, an anxiety, a grief or mental worry or even the pricking of a thorn but Allah will expiate his sins on account of his Patience. [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

Commentary: This Hadith mentions the special Grace and Mercy of Allah for the Muslims. It relates how Allah turns the hardships and troubles suffered by a Muslim into a means of expiation for his sins. But this is only possible if the believer exercises patience. However, if he starts wailing instead of showing patience then beside suffering hardships, he would be deprived of the reward which lies in bearing them patiently. Thus, he shall have to take the burden of additional sins also.

Dear sister, I can sympathize with you.

The prophet advised us not to wish for death, but that if we could not avoid doing so to instead say (I am sorry for any inaccuracies, I do not have the exact Hadith on hand, I will try to locate it and post it later):

Allah, if it is better for me please take my life now. But if it is better for me to remain in the world, please allow me to continue.

Our lives and our deaths are all for the sake of Allah.

Asalaamu'Alykum,

This is the last hadith, from my original post:

Abu Hurairah (R.A) reported that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said:

"He whom Allah intends good, He makes him suffer from some affliction." [Al-Bukhari]

Commentary: Troubles of this world like grief, calamity, disease, poverty, loss of life and property, etc, have a benign aspect for a Muslim in the sense that on account of them he turns towards Allah and begs mercy and compassion from Him because of which his sins are forgiven. Thus, in these troubles there is a blessing for him in the Hereafter.

Take benefit from these beautiful Hadith's. The commentary is from Riyad-us-Saliheen. My advise in relation to the prayer is, Allah does not need our prayers rather it is we that need them.

Just sit down and try and think. Has there been a situation where there was no method you could use in order to rectify a problem or situation? Who would you turn too?

I am sure the answer would always be Allah.

May Allah make it easy for you and enable you to epitomise patience. Ameen

EDIT: I can see there is spelling mistakes in my previous posts, so, i am sorry about that, but i think its just minor though.

dear sister, just because you are having hardships does not mean Allah (glorified He may be) does not love you.

Remember that our beloved prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was afflicted with many things. He was afflicted with the death of nearly all his sons and daughters in his life time except for one (Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her). His most loved wife Khadijah died as well, this is not to mention the scores of sahabah (his friends & companions) ... may Allah be pleased with them all.

I pray that Allah ease your suffering and grant you patience.

Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is reported to have said: "You will be responded to as long as you are not hasty .

In Islam, to be hasty in du'a is said to be a cause of rejection of du'a. The concept of hastiness is described in the following hadith.

It was asked, "O Messenger of God?...What does it mean to be hasty?" Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam responded "A worshipper says, 'I have prayed and prayed , and I don't yet see that it will be accepted; so he gives up hope of being answered, and leaves du'a'

Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is reported to have said, "Make du'a to God in a state that you are certain that your du'a will be responded to, and know that God does not respond to a du'a that originates from a negligent, inattentive heart"

One reported hadith relates as follows,
Once a man said, "O God, forgive me and have mercy and have mercy on me!" This was after the man had finished two raka'ats. Prophet Muhammad sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said, "You have been hasty, O worshipper! When you finish your prayer, then sit down and praise God with the praise that he is worthy of, and pray upon me, then state your du'a..."

May Allah guide us and bless us all and make us patient…AMIN

Turn To Islam
Salam sister,

Please do not also forget the story of Prophet Ayoub and all the trials he went through but yet held firm to his religion.

May Allah help you through these difficult times Ameen.

PROPHET AYOUB

Allah the Almighty praised His worshipper Ayoub in His Glorious Quran: Truly! We found him patient. How excellent a slave! Verily, he was ever oft returning in repentance to Us! (38:44)

Ayoub (pbuh) was repentant, remembering Allah with thankfulness, patience, and steadfastness. This was the cause of his rescue and the secret of Allah's praising him.

A group of angels were discussing Allah's other human creatures, how those who were humble earned Allah's pleasure, while those who were arrogant incurred His displeasure. One of the angels remarked: "The best creature on earth today is Ayoub, a man of noble character who displays great patience and always remembers his Generous Lord. He is an excellent model for the worshippers of Allah. In return, his Lord has blessed him with a long life and plenty of servants, as well as the needy and the poor share in his good fortune; he feeds and clothes the poor and buys slaves to set them free. He makes those who receive his charity feel as if they are favoring him so kind and gentle is he."

Iblis overhearing all of this, became annoyed. He planned to tempt Ayoub to corruption and disbelief, so he hastened to him. He tried to distract Ayoub from his prayers by whispering him about the good things in life but Ayoub was a true believer and would not let evil thoughts tempt him. This disturbed Iblis even more; thus he began to hate Ayoub even more.

Iblis complained to Allah about Job. He said that although he was continuously glorifying Allah he was not doing so out of his sincerity but to satisfy Allah so that his wealth should not be taken away. It was all a show, all out of greed. "If You remove his wealth then You will find that his tongue will no longer mention Your name and his praying will stop."

Allah told Iblis that Job was one of His most sincere devotees. He did not worship Him because of the favors; his worship stemmed from his heart and had nothing to do with material things. But to prove to Iblis the depth of Job's sincerity and patience, Allah allowed him to do whatever he and his helpers wished with Job's wealth.

Iblis was very happy. he gathered his helpers and set about destroying Job's cattle, servants and farms until he was left with no possessions. Rubbing his hands in glee, Iblis appeared before Job in the guise of a wise old man and said to him: "All your wealth is lost, some people say that it is because you gave too much charity and that you are wasting your time with your continuous prayers to Allah. Others say that Allah has brought this upon you in order to please your enemies. If Allah had the capacity to prevent harm, then He would have protected your wealth."

True to his belief, Job replied: "What Allah has taken away from me belongs to Him. I was only its trustee for awhile. He gives to whom He wills and withholds from whom He wills." With these words, Job again prostrated to his Lord.

When Iblis saw this, he felt frustrated, so he again addressed Allah: "I have stripped Job of all his possessions, but he still remains grateful to You. However he is only hiding his disappointment, for he places great store by his many children. The real test of a parent is through his children. You will see how Job will reject You."

Allah granted Iblis authority but warned him that it would not reduce Job' faith in His Lord nor his patience.

Iblis again gathered his helpers and set about his evil deeds. He shook the fountain of the house in which Job's children were living and sent the building crashing, killing all of them. Then he went to Job disguised as a man who had come to sympathize with him. In a comforting tone he said to Job: "The circumstances under which your children died were sad. Surely, your Lord is not rewarding you properly for all your prayers." Having said this, Iblis waited anxiously hoping Job was now ready to reject Allah.

But again Job disappointed him by replying: "Allah sometimes gives and sometimes takes. He is sometimes pleased and sometimes displeased with our deeds. Whether a thing is beneficial or harmful to me, I will remain firm in my belief and remain thankful to my Creator." then Job prostrated to his Lord. At this Iblis was extremely vexed.

Iblis called on Allah. "O my Lord, Job's wealth is gone, his children are dead, and he is still healthy in body, and as long as he enjoys good health he will continue to worship You in the hope of regaining his wealth and producing more children. Grant me authority over his body so that I may weaken it. He will surely neglect worshipping You an will thus become disobedient."

Allah wanted to teach Iblis a lesson that Jo was a devoted servant of his Lord so He granted Iblis his 3rd request but placed a condition: "I give you authority over his body but not over his soul, intellect or heart, for in these places reside the knowledge of Me and My religion."

Armed with this new authority, Iblis began to take revenge on Job's body and filled it with disease until it was reduced to mere skin and bone and he suffered severe pain. But through all the suffering Job remained strong in his faith, patiently bearing all the hardships without complaining. Allah's righteous servant did not despair or turn to others for help but remained hopeful of Allah's mercy. Even close relatives and friends deserted him. Only his kind, loving wife stayed with him. In his hour of need, she showered her kindness on him and cared for him. She remained his sole companion and comforter through the many years of suffering.

Ibn Asaker narrated: "Job was a man having much wealth of all kinds; beats, slaves, sheep, vast lands of Haran and many children. All those favors were taken from him and he was physically afflicted as well. Never a single organ was sound except his heart and tongue, with both of which he glorified Allah, the Almighty all the time day and night. His disease lasted for a long time until his visitors felt disgusted with him. His friends kept away from him and people abstained from visiting him. No one felt sympathy for him except his wife. She took good care of him, knowing his former charity and pity for her."

Therefore Iblis became desperate. He consulted his helpers, but they could not advise him. They asked : "How is it that your cleverness cannot work against Job, yet you succeeded in misleading Adam the father of man, out of Paradise?"

Iblis went to Job's wife in the form of a man. "Where is your husband?" he asked her.

She pointed to an almost lifeless form crumbled on the bed and said: "There he is, suspended between life and death."

Iblis reminded her of the days, when Job had good health, wealth and children. Suddenly, the painful memory of years of hardship overcame her, and she burst into tears. She said to Job: "How long are you going to bear this torture from our Lord? Are we to remain without wealth, children or friends forever? Why don't you call upon Allah to remove this suffering?"

Job sighed, and in a soft voice replied : "Iblis must have whispered to you and made you dissatisfied. Tell me how long did I enjoy good health and riches?"

She replied: "80 years."

Then Job replied: "How long am I suffering like this?"

She said: "7 years."

Job then told her: "In that case I am ashamed to call on my Lord to remove the hardship, for I have not suffered longer than the years of good health and plenty. It seems your faith has weakened and you are dissatisfied with the fate of Allah. If I ever regain health, I swear I will punish you with a hundred strokes! From this day onward, I forbid myself to eat or drink anything by your hand. Leave me alone and let my Lord do with me as He pleases."

Crying bitterly and with a heavy heart, she had no choice but to leave him and seek shelter elsewhere. In this helpless sate, Job turned to Allah, not to complain but to seek His mercy: "Verily! distress has seized me and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy." so We answered his call, and we removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his family to him (that he had lost), and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from Ourselves and a Reminder for all who worship Us." (21:83-84)

Almighty Allah also instructed: "Remember Our slave Job, when he invoked His Lord saying: "Verily! Satan has touched me with distress (by losing my health) and torment (by losing my wealth)!" Allah said to him: "Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in and cool and a refreshing drink." And We gave him back his family, and along with them the like thereof as a Mercy from Us, and a reminder for those who understand. (38:41-43)

Job obeyed and almost immediately his good health was restored. Meanwhile, his faithful wife could not longer bear to be parted from her husband and returned to him to beg his forgiveness, desiring to serve him. On entering her house, she was amazed at the sudden change: Job was again healthy! She embraced him and thanked Allah for His mercy.

Job was not worried, for he had taken an oath to punish her with a hundred strokes if he had regained health but he had no desire to hurt her. He knew if he did not fulfill the oath, he would be guilty of breaking a promise to Allah. Therefore in His wisdom and mercy, Allah came to the assistance of His faithful servant and advised him: "take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith your wife, and break not your oath." Truly! We found him patient. How excellent a slave! Verily, he was ever oft returning in repentance to Us!" (38:44)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: "While Job was naked, taking a bath, a swarm of gold locusts fell on him, and he started collecting them in his garment. His Lord called him: "O Job! Have I not made you too rich to need what you see?" He said: "Yes, My Lord! But I cannot shun Your Blessings." (Al Bukhari)

Subhanallah!

there are people in parts of the world..who step out their door..and NEVER comeback...and nobody...not even their loved ones...know what their fate is!!!

Subhanallah!

these are the same people...who despite of car-bombs..and militias...make it to every friday prayer...who were practically illiterate..taught themselves how to read qura'an with some help of others..and have made it a habit upon themselves to go to mosques..ONLY to read some qura'an!!!

Subhanallah!

these people put their heads down on their pillows...not knowing who will bust through their door looking for insurgents..they dip stale bread in water to eat..and bathe with cold water..IF IT'S AVAILABLE..and yet *alhamduliallah* never falls out of their mouths..and they are the first to crack a joke or two to cheer you up!!!

Subhanallah!

how a young girl witnesses the murder of her neighbors and her family with zionist bombs...but when asked what she feels...she looks at the camera..and with a face and penetrating look that sends-a-chill-down-your-spine she says..*THERE BOMBS FELL UPON US AND THEY WERE LIKE *WATER DROPS*..BECAUSE THEY FELL FROM COWARDOUS HANDS..FROM DIRTY HANDS...FROM WEAK HANDS!!!*

Subhanallah!!!

these are the people who when asked *do you get fed up with this kind of life?*..you know what they answer??????...they say (with a joyous tone) *why should I?...Allah is purifying me so I'd enter His Jannah..Allah wants me to die a shaheed (martyr) due to my suffering!..why should I ask for anything else???*

that's what happens when you expect too much out of this dunya...

Allah (swt)...sister...is THE ALL-KNOWING..should you ask for something for yourself...it is He only who will know the benefit..the harm..and the consequences of it..down to the letter!!!!

don't you think that Allah (swt)...knowing that you are doing what you do only to get by..and to get what you want..and earn something in return..has purposely halted what you seek from Him???????..so you'd detach yourself from that need...and only seek His pleasure with you as a servant??????

haven't you read about the rewards of those who are not granted ease in this dunya??????......haven't you heard of the rewards Allah (swt) has prepared for them in the akhira??????

how can you read the Qura'an.....and read the verses about those *who seek the dunya..and forget the akhira*......and then post something like this??????...didn't these verses ring a bell???....did it provoke any thoughts within your mind?????.....

Subhanallah!

May Allah Help You!

well after crying a river just now and making salat. I have thought about it, and I guess i am being hasty in my thoughts. I do live a better life then some people and I have read the stories of sahabians and life of Prophet Muhammad sallah allahu alaihi wa salaam and on a scale from 1-10 the things i go through are 1 maybe -1 compare to what the sahabas may allah be please with them. But i must admit, I am not cure of depression but like somone once told me... I guess I just have to bite the bullet and stay steadfast in islam and my duty towards allah. Even in the story of Noah may Allah bless him...it did not rain forever the sun eventually came out. and I guess the sun will eventually come out me for one day.

I pray Allah blesses you all for responded so encouragely like you all did,....I thought it would have been deleted.

Salam alaikum lostlilly,

You're feeling upset and probably frustrated. Remember that it is important to complain TO Allah about your frustrations rather than at Allah (astaghfirullah). When in a tough situation, stay steadfast - when in a good situation, stay grateful.

These two lectures may give you some inspiration:
Bilal Assad - Duaa
Bilal Assad - Forgive me when I whine

Please listen to them - I really think they could help you and strengthen you in these hard times. Salam alaikum.
