Prophet Musa (‘alayhisalam) said: ‘O my Lord, the people say things about me which are not (i.e. not true)! So Allah revealed to him: ‘O Musa, I did not make that (privilege) for Myself, so how can I make it the case for you?’ [2]

So does this mean that if people are telling lies about us that we are like (wrong word but I can think of no other) Allah...We are suffering (in that one moment) like Creator does?
Please, don't apologize to me for not understanding...cause I am still very very confused....lol. The showing off, yeah, I can understand that, to a point. Here in American, men don't wear anything that is long enough to be dragged, but the concept is understandable enough...an example of the robes of a king being dragged as a sign of wealth and prominence comes to mind. Why would the Prophet state that anything below the ankles in in the hell-fire tho. That's what I don't understand. (bangs head on student desk)
"that whatever is below the ankles is in the fire".......I'm sorry for my ignorance but that makes no sense to me. As I sit here trying to figure it out, the only thing about "Rather it is disliked due to the fact that it has long been a trait of those who have conceit in there heart" is that those people think that they are too good to have to worry about a simple matter of dirt...that their appearance can be overlooked simply because of "who they are"....but anything below the ankles is in the fire....I don't understand.
The gold and silk and (red?) I think...I remember reading that once...<in the Qur'an? or was it a Hadith?> but how it is allowed for women, tho I prefer silver. Redheads and some types of gold just don't mix. I also remember reading something in regards to perfume (probably a thread that had a hadith in it). Why above the ankles? To prevent bringing dirt into the Mosque? Since Woman don't have to goto a Mosque, they would naturally prevent themselves from getting dirty.

You said it. "while many Muslim men stress correct conduct and dress of their womenfolk, they often neglect their own obligations"......Even here, I see thread after thread after thread about what the women should and shouldn't do but nothing about the men. It seems very lop-sided. These issues may be spoken about in the Brother's only group but those aren't public rooms, unlike the rest of TTI. So all the world sees (from here) is women this, women that....

But thank you for what you have said...
    Al-Kashmiri,
Thank you for your attention in relation to the video. It doesn't take a Muslim to hear the pain in the man's voice or to know that he believes strongly. The images and the translation can stir the fires of hate and violence, something the Prophet would not endorse.

RE: The forest, I'm skillfull at copy/paste. I looked up an unknown fact and did a quick read. The ironic part was that I had a knitting pattern (free btw) from the Trust. A small world indeed.

Unless you're over 38, I seriously doubt you to be an "old man".

RE:Men, The thread was on teachers but my thoughts were more general and how they are accountable for their behaviour. I think part of why Muslim women are seen as "oppressed" in non-Muslim countries is because all we hear about is what the women can and can not do. We hear nothing about the men except that they can have "4 wives, wear what they want, hold jobs, get more inheritance". I just wanted to know what is not as commonly known.
