As salam brothers and sisters,
I would like your educated opinion in regards to Mother's Day. Living in Canada, we have this one day of the year in which we are meant to show our appreciation to our mothers with presents ans cards. However, I am not sure whether celebrating this day is the right thing to do. I beleive it is unIslamic because Allah (swt) has ordained for us two days to celebrate in the year- Eid ul'Udha and Eid ul'Fitr. However, growing up in this society, i have given my mother gifts in the past (during my more ignorant times) and I fear that if I do not give her one this year that she will be disappointed in me and sad, which is also unIslamic. There is also the fact that the holiday is just some ploy of corporate industries to get mass amounts of money out of consumer pockets all at once. Brothers and sisters, what do you believe is the best action to take; the one that would be pleasing to Allah (swt). JazakAllahu khayr for you time.
As salamualaikum waRahmatuAllahi wa barakatu
