New Revert 2010
As Salamu 'Alaykum,
One of my brothers-in-law told me that he had just spent "good money" to have his computer worked on and it was still slow.
I asked him if he would like me to see if I could speed it up.
First I ran a disk clean and it seemed like it may have been the first time it was run. Then a clicked on start again, moved the highlight up to accessories, then over to system tools, and down to defragment, again I think it might have been the first time it was run. After that I downloaded and installed Spybot and showed him how to press F8 after restart to enter safe mode. I ran Spybot and it found 14 infections that Malwarebyte had missed. After that I downloaded and installed Sandboxie
in which to run his Firefox so that any future malware couldn't access his computer unless he moved it from the sandbox. I showed him that he could press and hold the Ctrl key and then tap the + sign and the text would enlarge or the - sign and the text would strink. I installed truecrypt on his computer so he could create some encrypted files that would make it hard to access the files and that he could keep his financial records in the file.
And, I recommended that he put window washer and/or Evidence Eliminated and that he download Avast freeware. And that he should install one of the free firewalls. I use to recommend Zonealarm; however, it was bought by an Israeli Company and I thought that it would be prudent to pick another company. Short of loading Linux on his system, I thought this would help secure his system. When we finished his computer was over twice as fast.
